Aspergillusfumigatus treatment

Posted by lilianna @lilianna, May 12, 2025

I have had aspergillus for a while but I was always told no treatments it’s colonized. But it persistently shows in fungal culture plus I cough definitely more recently. My February CT showed change in my right middle lobe, consolidation. I am having a CT tomorrow but I know something is going on. If you were treated for this condition what was it, and how long. What meds did you take- I need some info so when I see my pulmonologist I have some knowledge. Thank you. It’s not easy to to think “ more” after I finished MAC three months ago. Thank you

I understand! I can sleep on two pillows but the wedge I bought really won’t work. I am a side sleeper and I can’t sleep on my side on the wedge. I guess the compromise is to do the best we can!

@tw508 definitely keep pushing especially if your Dr is willing. For reference, I fought for almost all of my treatment from June 2025, appealed my insurance 3x then did a department of managed care appeal. Just got my approval end of Feb!! Getting all of my out of pocket money back. Don't give up!

@hbcupcake thanks very much! We do have a persistent nurse and doctor on our team, which is bound to be really helpful

I was diagnosed after a bronchoscopy in Oct. 2025 and started treatment with oral Spororonox. My breathing improved after about 6 weeks but I developed nausea and vomiting as a side effect and had to stop. Then I started Cresemba. The run in dose was pretty rough but after that, things were easier AND a follow up bronchoscopy at NJH last week did not show Aspergillus!
