Can you have a Tympanoplasty with a non functioning eustacian tube
I have chronic eustacian tube distinction, and throughout my life, since early 20’a, I’ve had more then 30 tubes inserted. 13 of them the “ permanent” tubes. My tympanic membrane has finally completely fallen apart, and has left my inner ear wide open.
I am scheduled for a Tympanoplasty on April 21 to have it rebuilt. I’m terrified. Once it’s rebuilt I still need tubes to drain. And I’m reading very poor results unless you have a perfectly functioning eustacian canal. Just don’t know what to do. Live with my heart beat thumping away in my ear, with decreased hearing, and risk of infection. Or have a surgery that is apparently quite painful , not guaranteed, and risky. Any help from someone who has had this situation and surgery would be most appreciated!

I went through this living nightmare for 10 months. I went to 3 ENTs before one really investigated my problem. The one suggestion is Balloon Dilation if you can find an ENT well skilled in this treatment. It seems to have good results the main issue is coverage from insurance because it is expensive.
