Simple Happiness
I believe it's a good thing to nurture simple pleasures, wonders and joys in our daily lives. I make it a practice to remember, do and enjoy moments of self-fulfilling complete experience.
Here's one example: I have some little bottles of essential oils and spices on my desk by the keyboard.
When I've read too much news, I open one of the bottles, close my eyes and inhale deeply, drawing the odor deep into my sinuses, stimulating my brain with the aroma of anise, or lavender or citrus.
I can have deep enjoyment of this moment, it doesn't require anything more than my attention.
Simple, free happiness. It lifts my day.
Can we share some of our simple moments of joy and fullness?

I was in WW over 30 years ago. So long as I followed the program, I lost weight. I hate journaling. As soon as I stopped, I gained the weight back plus a few pounds.

1 ReactionYes, so did I. I was tired of being so disciplined but that’s what it takes to make the program work and overcome a lifetime of poor eating habits.
@rollingf I have one adult daugher slim and active , the other overweight and a "sitter" ... but she said in the past she found WeightWatchers the best... just gave up trying in recent years. We are in Canada and years ago she even went to Health Spas in USA ... helped her but she enjoys food...and relaxing ,., its been up and down most of adult life... up to her.
@lacy2 AND potato chips; pastries with coffee; rocky road ice cream....lol
... I was born duirng WW2 in England... I still remember the food rationing and being hungry which continued after end of War.... British food was not known for its calories at least not our "lower middle income" ... piece of toast and tea for breakfast, eggs on Sundays... rarely a meat sandwich for lunch... cheese, Marmite although large meal was usually the largest.. "supper" was teatime around 5 or 6.,,, a light meal depending as both my parents worked. Saving grace when Dad got a job in a "green grocers" which was small shop selling only fruit and vegetables so we had enough of those. Never had a steak or bbq.. but I know was same in many countries. Thng is, Mum was always chubby Dad was always slim . he ate more! Genes DO have a role here, right?

2 ReactionsI've gained and lost weight many, many times in my life.
I learned to eat a whole foods, vegetarian diet.
And then I learned that if I eat enough I can gain weight on a whole foods, vegetarian diet.
I had multiple wardrobes to fit my multi-sized waist.
The last time I lost weight I threw out my overweight-sized pants, making me recognize sooner that I'm gaining, which is now happening.
How shall I think about this???
"I'm very good at losing weight, and it's time to do it again!"

Yes, on this WholeFoodsPlantBased Lifestylecive started on, I don't want to lose weight as I am about the right weight now at 110 pounds. And I've achieved that. I eat a lot and can stay the same by stopping eating 3 hours before bedtime and incorporating short exercise (brisk walks) of 5-10 minutes after meals. Before that I was losing about a pound/week (and eating a lot). I became interested in this after reading "The China Study" published in 2005 and updated in 2016. Author is T. Colin Campbell. There is a website with support and 2-3 cookbooks.

I'm Not a dietician nor a Medical Professional ... so I'll Ask: Is the suggestion of 8 glasses of water a day across the board for EVERYONE? Should a 6'4" person drink the same amount of water as a 5'2" individual? I should think the persons daily activity regimen would be a factor as well ... the 6'4" person who is out doing a job or sport keeping busy all day would need more where as the 5'2" person who is sitting in their car, then sitting at a desk, also sitting for breakfast, lunch, dinner, then sitting down to watch News & evening programing would need less that our other example-individual!
Just Wondering ........
