Simple Happiness

Posted by edsutton @edsutton, Feb 25 8:29am

I believe it's a good thing to nurture simple pleasures, wonders and joys in our daily lives. I make it a practice to remember, do and enjoy moments of self-fulfilling complete experience.

Here's one example: I have some little bottles of essential oils and spices on my desk by the keyboard.
When I've read too much news, I open one of the bottles, close my eyes and inhale deeply, drawing the odor deep into my sinuses, stimulating my brain with the aroma of anise, or lavender or citrus.
I can have deep enjoyment of this moment, it doesn't require anything more than my attention.
Simple, free happiness. It lifts my day.

Can we share some of our simple moments of joy and fullness?

Taking a moment to watch the sunrise with my morning cup of coffee, and being grateful for another day.

Sitting on my patio with a fresh cup of coffee, watching the morning sky turn pink and enjoying watching my birdies come to eat and drink what I provide for them.

Everyday above ground is a good day. The aches and pains also tell me, I am alive!

Even though, I stopped working for IBM 30 years ago, I still miss the problem solving that I was doing! I think I would have worked for nothing, I loved my job. My last effort and project was Distributed Data Management design allowing computers to share data across networks. I also went to various User Group meetings giving presentations and talking with customers. My group enabled the family of products to share and the last addition was Relational Database which got complicated really fast.

Lovely post!! I see it has brought 15 replies and I'm not surprised. I haven't read the replies yet, but wanted to thank the author, (Ed?).
I use aromatherapy too. I have 2 plastic boxes with lids that I put my bras and briefs into and when family/friends give me those lovely soaps I throw them ( still in there wrappers) in too, close the lid and enjoy the brief fragrance every morning.
Also I do a few stretches that target the major muscles ( takes only 3-5 minutes), that leave me feeling relaxed and refreshed.

I love the early morning. It’s my quiet time, enjoying my coffee, spending some time with my Lord, scrolling on my phone, this is what helps me prepare for the day. 😊

Ahaha... your answer brought a chuckle to my morning even though on my new Whole Foods Plant Based Lifestyle I don't indulge (anymore), I still love chocolate.
