Getting off Quetiapine

Posted by dpugh1947 @dpugh1947, Feb 27 9:14am

I have been on 25 mg of quetiapine each night for anxiety. Now, it seems to be actually making the problem worse, and I am feeling terrible, to the point of being non-functional, in the mornings. Can I just stop taking it or must I gradually reduce the dosage?

DO NOT just stop taking it. You will have terrible withdrawal symptoms and be miserable!
You have to taper off slowly.
Talk to your doctor about a schedule for getting off of it.

@dpugh1947 I always recommend you speak with your doctor before making medication changes. But I just wanted to provide some support that 25mg is a pretty low dose, and if you haven’t been taking it very long, it might be pretty painless to come off this medication. Again please do ask your doctor first. Good luck and I’m sorry to hear you are struggling with anxiety. I hope you find some solutions that work better for you soon!
