What is brain fog like? How can I better understand as a caregiver?

Can any of you give examples of what your brain fog is like. My significant other is the patient and I have noticed a couple of things. I don't want to be harsh on them if they are struggling with brain fog. I'm not sure they realize it. They asked me how to spell a very common relative's name recently which was a concern to me.

it's terrible. meds change you. I got lyme disease and they put me on all these drugs including b/p meds which caused me brain fog , hallucinations etc. brain fog is like you are in a cloud, you can not focus or think clearly. since stopping all side effects are gone. clonidine and bystoic were deadly.

Had my first treatment yesterday 2/26, nurse used a pediatric catheter with lidocaine, no discomfort, no pain. Got home waited 2 hours was so afraid to pee waiting for the worse burning ever, had nothing it was like I never had BCG treatments. No side effects whatsoever, has anyone experienced this same outcome after the first treatment, hopefully the next 5 are good as well.

@ablaaj I have experienced it twice, from concussions. Feels like you are walking around with fishbowl over your head. All thinking slows down, memory of the simplest things are blurred, even my senses were dulled.

I find I am very forgetful, I can lose my train of thought during conversations. I have left the eggs boiling on the stove, hosepipe running in fishpond, mobile on car roof. I would be lost without my hard copy calendar and “Notes” on mobile phone where I update shopping lists, side effects etc. I used to get angry but realise side effects to life saving treatment are something we have to deal with to keep the POS at bay.
