Low testosterone: What helps?
My husband is 57 and has Low testosterone. Its about 150. He went to the urologist and they can not give him any hormones because he has some heart issues. He has lost 20 lbs and has about 20lbs to go. He has been regularly going to the gym. This has helped with his ED.
I am a woman so I don't know how a man feels but I know this has made him feel depressed because he feels I guess lest of a man if he is unable to perform sexually. (working out and some weight loss has definitely helped in this area) But I also know that he feels more tired because of the low levels.
Is there anything else he could do? Are there any supplements or food he should be eating?
Thanks in advance!

@melissa123 Hello. When I saw your post, I felt like I was reading about my husband! He too has low T that is 150 but is 62 years old. He also has heart trouble and had two stents inserted about two years ago. He did, unfortunately, have a heart attack though, they didn’t catch his heart issues in time. He also has diabetes. It has been a nightmare! He has all the symptoms of low T, especially the depression, ED, and low energy. I was curious if you and your husband have found out anything that has been useful to help with the low T levels, or any other advice you might have discovered that could help. He was just diagnosed with the low T in the last couple of weeks. They are prescribing him a roll on hormone cream. The doctor isn’t sure how long he can be on the T cream because of his heart issues, so they’ll be monitoring him very closely. We are at our wit’s end. Any information that you may have found would be greatly appreciated! I hope your husband is doing well and has found some relief from those symptoms. They have made my husband’s life so difficult. Thank you in advance!
@kapbow74 I wrote this so long ago. We kind of never went further doing anything. I think his Dr gave him a few ED drugs to try. I wrote on here because he seemed upset about not being able to have an erection or being less interested in sex. I'm not sure of all of my husband's other side effects from low t. I know our sex life is suffering. I don't require sex all the time but I worry if we don't have sex that often, that we may grow apart. I know we love each other. I just don't want it to lead to problems down the line.
I started TRT treatment approximately 1 year ago after my primary care internist told me prior to that I would not be a good candidate based on some heart issues. I discussed this later with my urologist who is on top of the latest information and he told me the probability of issues would be no more than about 1% based on latest studies. I decided to go ahead with the treatment and have not regretted it. Have experienced no problems. It vastly improved my libido and helped improve my muscle tone. I have always tried to be active and stay in relatively good shape by exercising. I suggest you seek another opinion or two. Thinking on trt has evolved in the fairly recent past. Good luck
I am 76 so suspected I might have low T. Did some reading and ordered an herb from SwansonVitamins called Tongkat Ali and another called Tribulus extract. I took them every other day for a about a month but felt no changes. Had my annual physical in December and told my doctor I wanted to check my T level when having the blood test. She said OK but only requested a "total testosterone" test. Well it came back High! Over 1100. So I read more and found that you should test for several things to get the big picture: Total T, Free T, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) and Estradiol. You can have high total T and low free T. Free T is the one that gives you the energy and drive you are looking for.
