Carotid Artery??

Hello, my Left Carotid Artery had a 75% Blockage and I had surgery last July 17, 2025.
For the past month or so I have been experiencing lightheadedness, feeling off. At times when I get up from sitting I have to sit back down. Feels like it did last year. So the other night I felt my left side of neck and it felt a bit swollen, the vein felt large. Can that Artery that had the surgery, can the Plaque or whatever he cleaned out come back? TY

If you can check your BP after sitting quietly for 5 minutes as a baseline.
Then check it upright standing after 1 to 2 minutes standing. If it drops
more than 20 points that is significant upright change called orthostatic hypotension. It can result from carotid problems. Call your doctor with
this condition as it carries risk of falling and getting injured. Make sure you
are not dehydrated. This problem is frequently from medications as well.
Pay attention to the warning symptoms.

Yes, it is likely, not certain, but likely, that the conditions that generated sufficient deposition of atherosclerotic plaque will in time contribute to increased deposition in the bypassing vessel. Happened to my father, but his was blocked 90% and he went six years before they noticed a considerable buildup of plaque in the new vessel. I would think your short history is not sufficient with this bypass to have it return so viciously....I think something else is going on...mebbe....but a physician should check you out. Nobody here can do more than to share anecdotal information or state that they are an MD and have expert advice to share...which would be unethical without having your history in front of them.

I can't answer about 'cleaning out' a bypassing vessel. Again, a surgeon or a cardiologist would know what to provide you with factual information.

Note that genetic predisposition, lifestyle choices, chronic systemic inflammation, and some pathogens can cause the linings of blood vessels to deteriorate and to invite deposition of plaque thereby. Statins and other drugs may help, but it depends hugely on those first four factors.

Thank you all. I was seriously thinking of going to the ER tonight as this morning when I got out of bed the lightheadedness whatever I almost felt I was going to pass out. I will go to ER tomorrow. I am going to bypass even calling the Surgeon who did the bypass. Why. He will say we will make an appointment blah blah blah. Who knows, yes I do feel the swelling on my left neck. Maybe my right artery is clogged. I just have so many ‘late effects’ from my AML and bone marrow transplant in 1981 that included total body radiation. The list is so long I am ready to give in at this point.
