Epileptologist in Atlanta area
I need help on the following: Does anyone know of a formal Epileptogist (not a typical neurologist) in the Atlanta area, north south, east or west ? I have called the more notable institutions in this area and each agent didn't know the difference between the two. Not all neurologists are Epileptologists. I appreciate a comment.

Good Morning Roy!
You're absolutely right — not every neurologist is an epileptologist, and that distinction really matters.
I'm sorry, I don't know of an epileptologist in the Atlanta area, but the Epilepsy Foundation Helpline could be helpful to you: https://www.epilepsy.com/helpline. Worth a call or click!
I hope others in our group will chime in with local recommendations. Wishing you all the best in finding the right care in Atlanta!
Chris

1 ReactionHi, @royanthony - it's a bit of a "hike," but you might look at the possibility of going to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide/florida. @dannoyes may be available to tell you about the care he received there, or he may know an epileptologist in your area.

1 ReactionI've been a patient of Mayo Clinic for over a decade for MRI's and I've worked with a neurologist at Mayo who reviews my MRI's and provides his opinions on it's results, etc. I've had a neurologist in the Jacksonville area with whom I've trustred for 16 years and it's worked well. But he is now retired. There is one epileptologist in Jacksonville, outside of Mayo, and my Neurologist went through the file tranfer process and she did not allow me as a patient. I did research through the the MAYO link and they show one doctor. I'll contact Dan. Thank you both, Lisa and Chris as your suggestion regarding MAYO confirms a way I should pursue.

3 ReactionsHi I don’t if this will help. Emory hospital has the best neurologist care in Atlanta. They don’t go by the title to what your looking for but they call it “level 4” doctors in that clinic instead that’s suppose to be considered an epileptologist. Another is this address
One Barnes-Jewish Plaza
St. Louis, MO 63110
And another duke health
40 Duke Medicine Cir
Durham, NC 27710-4000.
These 2 hospitals go by that title. I know one is a good distance away where as the NC would be closer. Hope this helps

2 Reactions@tkmoyer3 I have researched and there is a Level 4 in our area. Since we've last communicated a month ago, the Epilepsy Foundation just responded with the following:
Emory Health Care Epilepsy Center
Level 4 Adult Epilepsy Center
1364 Clifton Rd., NE-Bldg 3, 2nd Flr., F223
Atlanta, GA 30322
404-712-1387
Note, there are 2 other locations in our area. Roswell & Marietta, but they show as a Level 3
I appreciate the time you spent with your research for me.
