How do you clear the HPV16 virus to prevent cancer recurrence?
Has anyone (Male) had any success totally clearing the HPV virus with Supplements/Diet changes or seeing a Naturopathic Doctor after having Cancer and going through Cancer treatment. I keep reading about AHCC....
"IM NOT WANTING THE CANCER TO RETURN"
hpv 16, Tonsil Cancer.
Had a right tonsillectomy and lymph nodes removed. No radiation or chemo @ Mayo Rochester.

@sart AHCC appears to be some form of test of which I have no information about. The CC may be Cystic Carcinoma, a rare type of cancer that begins in the salivary glands. If I come across a better answer I will jump on the original post and clarify it. I never heard back from that patient sadly.

1 Reaction@hrhwilliam thank you that would be great. What is the HPV then
Please 😁
@jc76 thank you for your post. I would alike to know 😁
@sart
I use A.I. lot and MCC wants those who reference it to make it known to post. I use Microsoft Co-Pilot to do reserach. What I like about it is that is list where the information comes from. The below at end says were from or in the text. But comes from MSKCC and Cancer.Gov
A.I. response. Hope this helps!
Here’s a clear, grounded explanation of AHCC, based on the medical sources we just pulled up, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and current clinical trials.
(You’ll see citations after each section.)
🌿 What AHCC Actually Is
AHCC (Active Hexose Correlated Compound) is a proprietary extract from the mycelia of shiitake mushrooms.
It’s used as a dietary supplement with the goal of supporting the immune system.
🎯 Why People Associate AHCC With Cancer
AHCC is not a cancer treatment, but it’s being studied because it may influence the immune system in ways that could be helpful alongside standard cancer therapies.
What research is exploring:
• Whether AHCC can support immune function during chemotherapy or radiation
• Whether it can help the body clear HPV, which is linked to certain cancers
• Whether it can improve outcomes when combined with immunotherapy
There are ongoing clinical trials testing AHCC in:
• HPV‑positive head and neck cancer (combined with chemoradiation)
• Liver cancer (combined with immunotherapy)
🧪 What Evidence Exists So Far
What is known:
• AHCC appears to have immune‑modulating effects in lab and early human studies.
• Some small studies suggest it may help reduce HPV viral load.
• It is generally well tolerated in research settings.
What is NOT proven:
• AHCC has not been proven to cure cancer.
• It has not been shown to replace chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, or immunotherapy.
• Large, definitive clinical trials are still ongoing.
⚠️ Safety Notes
According to Memorial Sloan Kettering:
• AHCC is usually well tolerated.
• It may interact with immunosuppressive medications.
• Anyone with cancer should tell their oncologist before taking it.
This is especially important because many cancer treatments rely on precise immune system behavior.

2 Reactions@jc76 thank you so much. This information is so helpful. It also explains a lot . Im assuming the HPV-16 means Human Papilloma Virus? 🤔

1 Reaction@sart I see you have already found your result: Human Papilloma Virus, which better than 95% of human adults have. When you see things like HPV P16+ or P18+, this means in a tumor biopsy in the specific areas of Panel 16 or 18 of the biopsy study, those areas showed a positive result with a conclusion that the cancer is positive for the HPV virus as the cause or type of cancer cells we are dealing with. Not all Squamous cell cancers (SCC) are HPV positive. Those that are seem to have a much better outcome of resolution than non-HPV cancers. This connection to HPV was only discovered about 25 years ago over in Italy I believe and it really changed the way we address SCC in treatment and cure.
Do we ever rid ourselves of the HPV virus? This question is often asked and I understand the answer is no. But does that mean we will once again get cancer? I guess if we continue to eat poorly, smoke cigarettes and drink strong alcohol then we are much more likely to go through this again, but not always. And that doesn't mean if we live healthy we won't get a reoccurrence either. Cancer is fickle. For me, 25 years out with no return of cancer that I am aware of, I still to this day think any health oddity that lingers more than a few days means that cancer has returned. It has not.
For more information on SCC check the website for SPOHNC.org which is another support group for head and neck cancers with more medical incite than we can supply here as patients. We can help you deal with what is ahead based upon our own experiences, which the medical community does not usually have.

3 ReactionsI asked the same question about ACHH. It is also a mushroom derivative. Per my doctor, “AHCC is a single ingredient containing mostly alpha glucans, turkey tail is a plant that contains other ingredients including beta glucans. Both have some evidence of effect on HPV but turkey tail is less expensive. I do not think there is enough evidence to pick 1 over the other."
HPV is Human Papillomavirus, a common viral infection. Most people’s immune system clears it naturally at some point. However, it can cause cancer, especially throat cancer in men and cervical cancer in women. There is now a vaccine that protects against it. Unfortunately, it came out in the early 2000’s and I never received it. My kids got the vaccination when they were young.
