How do you clear the HPV16 virus to prevent cancer recurrence?

@girlypop Hi and welcome to Connect. It is my understanding that most people, above 90% have some form of the HPV. Certain strains of HPV under the right conditions such as a low immune system may start a cancer.
What is not known is after cancer treatment, does HPV stop causing cancer in the patient?
None of us here can or will diagnose you. We only help each other deal with our specific ailments and treatments. That being said, two questions for you. Have you been diagnosed with cancer? What is AHCC?

@girlypop I took a look to see what studies were done on the AHCC. Came across this recent study done in 2022. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35814366/ AHCC® Supplementation to Support Immune Function to Clear Persistent Human Papillomavirus Infections Small sample used for study, but looks like they had some good results with the use of AHCC. Unfortunately, that is just one study that I found. But like all supplements, need to check with your docs to make sure it does not cause any interactions with prescribed medications. Also, I think one of the docs at City of Hope (California) has been doing some research in the use of mushroom type supplements.

I had the exact same surgery in Gainesville Fl. In 2018 and I have had zero symptoms since, that was the most painful recovery Ive ever had the disspleasure of induring. So I get your fear of a reoccurance. Mu left clavical area to my shoulder never regained the muscle mass.

I had HPV throat cancer. 35 Radiation & 5 chemo treatment. 3 months out post treatment with a clean PET scan. Herbal supplement doctor at Mayo recommended Turkey Tail supplements. It is derived from mushrooms and contains polysaccharide K & P (PSK, PSP). Approved in Japan for cancer treatment but not in US. Doctor said it had immune boosting anticancer properties. Dosage of 3000 mg daily. Spoke with other cancer patients and they heard recommendations regarding Turkey Tail mushrooms also.

Is that for prevention of HPV type induced cancers or is it for all cancers including non-HPV related?

It is for many different types of cancer. Lots of info out there if you do a search for turkey tail and cancer. The doctor mentioned that it does help with suppressing the HPV. However I did not find large clinical studies on it. But Mayo is quite conservative with treatment plans, so for them to suggest taking it was encouraging to me.

@hrhwilliam yes what is AH CC? And what is the HPV please. I have right tonsil root ( had tonsils out when I was 7) Dr left the root of my right tonsil in turned cancerous at age 61
Now 11 years later just getting over oesophagus cancer and have now been diagnosed with breast cancer, both breasts
I am told its nothing to do with previous cancer
? Had surgery first time with chemo and radiation
And just chemo and radiation for oesophagus cancer
Anyone got and suggestions 🤔
