Chronic Back Pain for Years
6 back surgeries (extensive cervical and lumbar fusions) with neurological complications. Left with chronic pain. Accident happened in Nursing career 1992 and worked with first fusions until 1999 (failed fusions). At my age, and as a former nurse educator, I never wanted to had to rely on medication/s for the severe pain. Having thoroughly exhausted exploring sites using non-pharmaceutical methods, using psychological methods, biofeedback, trying to accept my limitations, i.e., I still believe somewhere...out there...is hope. The strong medicine has caused gastroparesis, further complicating my health problems. They are too numerous to write and I will not focus on them. I am looking for "help" and guidance. If I can be of assistance to anyone throughout their trials, (perhaps similar to some of what I have gone through), I will.

@hopeful33250 Thanks Teresa. I actually took those pictures to send to my daughter, she had sent me an assorted beautiful bouquet of those (can't remember the name right now) last year so now they make me think of her.

I learned to couple a Vitamin B complex with my pain pills. This helps a great deal. It takes about an hour for me to really feel the difference, but then I can move about quite smoothly.
My L2 was broken as a 5 year old when my older sister pushed me out of a barn loft window/door. I've had problems with it for about 63 years now, and mostly it is fine, but can be a bother. For awhile after the break I had so much trouble with balance my folks thought it was my feet and never knew I had broken my back as they never took me to see a doctor or had an Xray. I only got the diagnosis from an ortho looking at a disfigured vertebrae when I was about 50 or 55.
@eileena I will have to get some His it B complex you take ?I will try this .Thanks ,How did you live with this all those years? Bless you
@lioness It is B-Complex and can be bought at CVS or Sprouts or any health foods place. I usually take 2 capsules with 2 generic Tylenol 600mg.
When you are a kid you have no idea what is it that is making your posture bad, nor do you understand why your back aches. You just adapt and do your best. I even managed to run when I wanted to, but got plenty tired. The worst part was probably having to ask my dad to stop the car when we moved from one place to another so I could go behind a bush to relieve my bladder. It seemed to be too small all the time.
Only if I do something like get down on my knees and do things there and cannot return to standing easily that it reminds me and I pay for it for a few days.

Where dis you get the idea that marijuana w/THC has to be burned to produce a high? It's not true. The THC is what makes people high, and it can be in edibles, tincture, vaped or smoked in a "joint." Most medical marijuana prescriptions recommend tincture under your tongue, edibles, or vaping. There are no apparent problems identified at this point for smoking/vaping it, but my intuition tells me it's not wise to do that. Anything you put in your lungs could be harmful in my opinion.
Research that's been done has shown Marijuana and CBD extracts are in fact useful for pain, nausea, and anxiety (to some extent). It has also shown that marijuana is not addictive nor a gateway drug. Further research is needed and has finally begun due to loosening of the extreme restrictions placed on marijuana in the past.

You may have figured out by now that I am in support of legalizing Marijuana and it's derivatives. While much work remains to be done in terms of clearly defining what can and cannot be in the product, for the most part, producers are self regulating in California and Washington State. People don't want to get a bad reputation for selling "bad weed." Even at that, many of us take food supplements--vitamins--that are not regulated either. I don't see much difference between currently unregulated marijuana and unregulated vitamins.
I think marijuana has the potential to provide relief for a number of physical problems and possibly some mental illness issues as well. Time will tell. Fear of marijuana by the government has been forced into our psyches for many years. Some say it's because pharmaceutical companies didn't want people growing their own so they couldn't make money on it. I don't know who started the idea that marijuana should be a Schedule 1 drug, meaning it is considered the most dangerous drug along with opium and heroin, but it is nothing like opium, heroin, cocaine, etc. It is much more benign than the other Schedule 1 drugs.
Time for the government to correct the perception and illegal status of marijuana at the Federal level, in my opinion. That will free patients to be prescribed medical marijuana to help with pain while being able to continue other medications prescribed. Currently, one must choose all marijuana meds, or only prescribed meds because doctors must now test for use of Marijuana and derivatives and if they show up in the urine test, the patient loses their other prescriptions for pain. Doctors can lose their licenses if they knowingly prescribe for patients who are using marijuana too. Most are "kicked out" of Pain Clinics at that point.

@Gail I do agree with you about the pharmaceutical companies they could make money on it if they controlled it.It's all politics then the lobbyist wouldn't be there for?
@Elinna The therapist told me never twist m y back I can't s crub my floors for the movement and if I could find someone to do my dishes that would help
@gailb I read it somewhere that it had to be smoked, don’t remember where. Not saying what I read is accurate.
