Anybody diagnosed with microscopic colitis?

Posted by bobthebuilder54 @bobthebuilder54, Oct 12, 2011

Hi, wondering if anybody here has this for a dx. I have been having a flare for about two months, it is getting a little better with the meds but the doctor wants me to go on a short dose of steriods. I already have a muscle disease so hate to go the steriod route, (plus do not need to gain weight) lol. But if anyone has any hints for me I would appreciate it on how to control this. It is the longest flare I have had.

Why are you having a colostomy?

@ndough
My error should have typed colonoscopy not colostomy.
Sorry I'll check my mail before I send.

The only way to identify MC is through a colonoscopy. The GI will need to take biopsies from several different locations in your colon (not painful). How would the long term use of Celebrex cause this?

@donnagail I hate the no fruit or vegetables part - fresh, frozen or canned.

@donnagail Too much fiber in most. I can have apples if I peel them. Bananas as long as they are on the green side. Blueberries, but really have to limit them. No green veggies, again too much fiber. You need to remember, diet is basically a high carb diet.

@ndough aren't green beans easy on the stomach? I know it sucks that so many healthy foods are no-no's. 😞

@donnagail It’s not the stomach but the intestinal tract. Green beans are really bad, as is broccoli.

@ndough I guess I was just thinking, what goes in the stomach ends in the intestinal tract. I can eat green beans and snap beans.
