Meet others living with Head & Neck Cancer: Introduce yourself

Welcome to the Head and Neck Cancer group.
This is a welcoming, safe place where you can meet other people who are living with head and neck cancer. Let’s learn from each other and share experiences from diagnosis through treatment and coping with symptoms and recovery challenges.

As you know, head and neck cancer is the general term for a broad group of cancers that begin in the head and neck region. This include oropharyngeal cancer, hypopharyngeal cancer, laryngeal cancer, lip and oral cavity cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, paranasal sinus and nasal cavity cancer, salivary gland cancer, squamous cell neck cancer or ameloblastoma.

Let’s get to know one another. Why not start by introducing yourself? What type of cancer have you been diagnosed with?

@rokinrobin8662 welcome to Head and Neck group. Have you just been monitoring these masses with no diagnostics these 3 years? I would be pushing for biopsies quickly with your new symptoms. You might want to consider asking for referral to a large cancer center or referral hospital if procedures aren’t happening directly. You are your own best advocate with your health so take charge and work with your medical team for answers.

Have you reached your ENT team? I'd recommend seeing them. Did you get any procedures, treatments? I hope something will work for you.

I have been diagnoses with squamous cell stage 4 with several tumors in the side of my neck. Started 2 rounds of targeted immunotherapy, to be followed by removal surgery, then additional immunotherapy. Looking for long term prognosis.

@williaca welcome to our Head and Neck group. It’s a bit of a battle ahead but a lot of improvements in treatment over the last twenty years. All I can tell you about long term prognosis is that I am still here after twenty five years. Lots of help from good people in this group. Don’t hesitate to ask. Good healing.

I have Stage 4 Oropharyngeal SCC ( base of tongue with lymph node involvement on both sides). Diagnosed in early 2025, treated with 35 radiation treatments and two rounds of Cisplatin. Completed treatment September 10th. PEG tube removed December 30th. Liver growth detected on PET scan and MRI in early December. Just had liver resection on January 30th 2026, and am now awaiting biopsy results to see where to go from here. Still struggling to keep up oral intake and maintain weight after 60 pound weight loss. Cancer sucks, but trying to remain positive.
