@mocheta Ditto but from Anastrozole. This side effect in those with GERD / hiatal hernia etc seems to keep getting mentioned more often. My experience is that gastroenterologists are not very aware of the side effects of AIs despite them being widely prescribed, and thus likely to be being taken by a fair few of their patients. I am due a monitoring gastroscopy in two weeks time, and will be raising this worsening of GI symptoms with the clinician. Again I think this makes the case for more cross disciplinary research/ training in respect of these long term drugs.

Yes please thanks if you could ask your gastro about this and what can I do I would appreciate it a lot!

Hello, I was on Arimidex for 8 years following a lumpectomy and radiation treatments(59yrs.old) I had some bone aches my hair was sort of limp and thinner instead of the usual waves but overall I felt pretty good. Then 4 years after I stopped A. my bone pain was significantly less and my hair got thicker and curlier then it was before!
Then 4 years later (70 yrs.old) I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and put on palbociclib and letrozole. According to my my cardiologist Letrozole caused my cholesterol to jump up and so I had to add statins to my meds. Then the bone pain got significantly worse so I am going to talk to my oncologist if we can swap to Armidex. With all the stuff I've been researching, the long term effect is the same. Everyone seems to respond a bit different so I'd say, see how it feels after 6 months and if you can tolerate it great and if not, ask to try a different one.
I'm now 72 and grateful for the meds keeping things stable but not ready to accept having to live with this much bone pain. Here's hoping a switch will have a positive result.

I was on Letrozole (Femara) for three months. After three months, my side effects started to kick in with very bad joint pains in my knees and hands (mostly fingers). I was unable to walk without pain and couldn't even hold a knife to cut vegetables. My oncologist told me to stop and gave me the option of Tamoxifen.
While on Letrozole, my osteoporosis got worse, -4 on my lumbar spine from -3.6. Letrozole is very harsh on the bones unless you don't have osteoporosis than it should be manageable.
I haven't started Tamoxifen yet, scared of the side effects, especially uterine cancer and blood clots. I am 62, still have my uterus, and am not sure if removing it will help to prevent another cancer. I also have varicose veins, which is another concern of mine for blood clots. Has anyone been in a similar situation?
