Anyone getting any relief from Tylenol eight hour arthritis pills?

My doctor said Tylenol would be OK for me to take for my very bad joint pain when the medication‘s don’t really do very much at all for me. Anyone out there getting any relief from Tylenol for joint and muscle pain? thank you for your help!

I take 8 hour Tylenol and 600 mg ibuprofen together. It seems to help with some of my pain but not PN pain. 600 mg is a lot of ibuprofen but I’ve been doing this for years. I always take with food.

@med951 I'm 88. My Reumatologist does not allow me to take Tylenol 650 and ibuprofen together. Only Tylenol, as I said before. Situations are different and treatments as well. In any case, good luck to all of us with our pains.

I take the Tylenol for osteoarthritis first thing in AM , and just before bed. I also wear compression gloves and do tendon glides and range of motion exercises. All for my hands. All very helpful. I am 80 years old and still work about 6 hours daily restoring antique cars and tools.

Thank you very much for the suggestion of Tendon Glides.

I also take Tylenol Arthritis in AM and PM. I use motrin for breakthrough pain. I think it may be helping but I'm not sure.

Most definitely. If I need some pre pain, I use A535 Rub, it is fast acting to relieve pain.
At night about an hour before I go to bed, I take TYLENOL Arthritis and pain tablets. It lasts 8 hours and is a slow release or extended release. I had pain every time I rolled over with the muscle pain. They are 650 mgs each and the directions say to take 2 tabs every 8 hours. I use it only at night. The less the better but use when needed. It works very well for me and I can get a really good night’s sleep. It is always best to check with your doctor or call a pharmacist for information.
When my pain gets intolerable I have to use Tylenol #1 which has 8 mgs of Codeine in it. This can become addictive so be careful. I use it only if I am stress with the pain. I take two tabs about twice a month. If you take it daily you will become addicted to it. So I use it very sparingly when I have pain I know I cannot relieve without it.
In Canada it is sold behind the counter controlled by the pharmacy, we do not need a prescription and the pharmacy gives you a lot of information. Do not be afraid to take it if your pain is intolerable, unless you have liver disease and that is a very different story.
I hope this helps! I am not sure if you can purchase in USA without a prescription. In Canada 30 tablets cost about $30.00 plus tax.
Good luck with relieving your pain. It can become very difficult to deal with.

Hello, I get moderate relief of pain but not complete relief of pain from Tylenol regardless of the dose or frequency. I supplement that with Frankincense essential oil, and lidocaine rolls on liquid which works well. I am also prescribed Lyrica for the fibromyalgia. Heat feels better over cold. Rarely but occasionally I’ll have to take a real pain pill like Tramadol or hydrocodone.

Tylenol works great in reducing fevers for me, but does nothing for my pain. It’s a great “booster” if used with another pain med, like ibuprofen. Unfortunately I am on blood thinners so I can’t take any type of pain meds.

@maryje Anurse who works the hotline at Kaiser that I know advises patients who call for help with pain to take two ibuprofen and one Tylenol as you mention.

@raebaby That really does work great. Unfortunately, last year I had to start taking blood thinners so I can’t even take ibuprofen for pain.

For most of us dealing with chronic pain, Tylenol is our only OTC choice since NSAIDS can’t be taken indefinitely. A Pain Mgt Dr told me to take 2 rapid release Tylenol first thing in the a.m. and 2 near bedtime. At first I thought they didn’t do much - until I stopped taking them! Chronic pain will doubtfully be controlled to “pain free”, but I find I can manage if I can stay under a 5 on the scale. I’d really be happy with a 2 or 3 but that seldom happens.
