I am now 84 and my wife died ,pre than ten years ago of ALS. I miss her for many reasons, One of them is having someone to sleep with (besides the dog). She taught me about the pleasures of snuggling which involves a lot of hugging and occasional kissing (germ sharing). My current best friend doesn't want to snuggle or so she says. I have known her and worked with her for more than 40 years. Old women need to able to tell their own life story as well as listening to ours--old men.

As a Young Girl when I was with my 2 Grandmothers they would make disparaging comments about how they Hated looking in the mirror & seeing "An OLD Lady looking back"! This was back in the 1950's & '60's when Hollywood Celebrities were talking about Cosmetic Surgery, etc. Years passed, my Mother & Mother-in-Law began showing their age & BOTH complained about "That Bitch, Mother Nature"! They both talked about going to a Cosmetic Surgeon, my Mother "winced" at the cost & my Mother-in-Law had "aged-out", the surgeon told her she'd waited too long, he wouldn't recommend it. That's when I decided, when the time comes, I'll look into it. Just b/4 my 60th Birthday I found a 1st rate Surgeon & had a procedure, A face-lift. Afterward People would tell me I looked 10-15 years younger. The surgeon told me in about 10-15 years I'd regress & IF my Health was Very Good, I might want to come back for a little more. Suggestion Noted!
Over the next 12 years I watched my weight, had Annual Health check-ups, & in the 13th year after the 1st "Lift", went back for a little more.
I'm 88, ... when people ask my age & I tell them, they're almost Always surprised! I feel the expense & discomfort (at the Time of the surgeries) is WELL Worth The Results ... it just makes me feel "Comfortable In My Skin". At 88 I wake up each morning feeling up-beat, positive, & self confident. It's Not for Everyone, however for me I feel it improved Quality of my Senior Years.
@frouke When I was a young woman, my mother, who was probably in her early 60s, said she felt she looked older than my father and was considering a facelift. This surprised me so much because she was my role model and I thought she was beautiful. And I told her so. And she didn't have the facelift. And she is still my role model. That was also about the time certain celebrities began having bad results with their facelifts. Beauty comes from within.

Yes, I totally agree. Life continues to make me wonder why I had to be born. No joy found.
