Does Cold Therapy help prevent neuropathy from chemo?

Posted by klblvsalf @kmbori, Jan 23 11:08am

Hi all
My hubby starts chemo next week and Ive read that putting ice packs on hands/feet during chemo helps limit neuropathy symptoms? Has anyone done this. My husband is a cold person already - so he isnt looking forward to putting ice packs on his hands/feet. But I have severe neuropathy in my feet and it hurts like hell - I dont want him to get this crap too.

This is the B6 and lions mane I got. Apparently different mushrooms have alot of healing properties in them. Who knew. I found this information while I was researching but the Integrative doc confirmed it.

Can I assume that most people who get a pancreatic cancer diagnosis get chemo first - then surgery - then chemo again??

@kmbori it is highly dependent on the staging. If there is no evidence in bloodstream or other organs, surgery comes soon. But almost all surgeons now will want to do some chemo to stave off anything that might be hiding!

@kmbori please don’t worry just now. The first dose is a shock to our systems. Pre-meds are key and will help stave off most nausea but for a few days one just doesn’t have much appetite. Especially when the steroid wears off. I thrive on applesauce on those days. Very small bowls of chicken soup Maybe some crackers and cheese.

Thank you for the info. I appreciate it.
Doc wants him to have a PET scan in addition to the CT/MRI he had done - he has that done on Mon - but doc says Stage 2 so far.
Praying this little devil shrinks and they can cut it right out!!
Praying for everyone for that matter. This sucks. He has never sipped alcohol or smoked anything in his life and he is the one with cancer. Ugh. Life.
