I've been to many different doctors and they don't know why my hair is falling out. I'm not on predisone. Has any one had functional lab testing and gone to a functional dr. to interpret? Has it helped?
Biotin has really helped repair the dry frizzy damage from the prednisone. I think I'm losing less hair from the methotrexate too. I don't think I'll be able to regrow any as long as I'm still on that.
@aisp3b would you remember if you were losing some hair before starting on prednisone?? I am not yet on anything, but have noticed a bit more hair coming out after washing.

@pmrnew No I have always had a good healthy head of hair. Now it is getting thin. I was losing a great deal following each shampoo in particular. Now that my dose is lowering (6.5 mg) it seems to be getting less. My rheumatologist agreed that he has heard many patients complain about losing hair on prednisone and he agrees that this is what is causing it. I bought an infrared gadget called Hairmax on Sharper Image and use it every other day. It seems to help. My husband is even using it on his bald spot and he agrees it is helping him too. I also bought a shampoo and conditioner called Routine and at the very least gives my hair. a thicker bouncier appearance. I have read on this site that once the person is off prednisone their hair comes back. I sure hope so! This is frustrating but we have to keep up our spirits and do the best for ourselves that we can. Good luck!

I am down to 1.5 mg/day and am no longer losing hair.

@pmrnew I did not lose hair prior to taking methylprednisolone. I have thick hair and the hair loss was most noticeable when I washed it.
