Yours looks like mine. My white lacy patches are on sides of cheeks and under tongue , both sides. Plaquinil takes a long time to work. I am on 400 mg per day and have been for 5 months. It has helped me feel better. More energy and feel I can deal and adjust to new life with this. I also use Cleure toothpaste during day and Biotene toothpaste ate night. I got toothpaste on Amazon. I use a compounded steroid Clobetasol /Cyclosporin/ Lidocaine and Nystatin only for break out. Prescribed by a general Derm through Bedrock Pharmacy. . This is a Derm compounding pharmacy in Tampa. Rinse mouth after eating. Keep trying until you find a Dr that treats this. I am going to Mayo next week for consult. 20 drs later.

I have them so bad I can't eat for days. I drink a lot of whole milk.
I don't know what to do with this. I'm 57 years old and I have been getting these things since I was 18. My mom used to get them sometimes and 2 of my children get them on occasion. Know body I know has ever got them from me? What should I do?

@sprice After suffering severe mouth sore outbreaks for many years, I truly feel your pain. I always knew some outbreaks were triggered by certain foods, but avoiding those wasn't enough. Many years ago, one of my kids suggested I eliminate wheat from my diet as a possible culprit, and for me it worked.
My brother had similar outbreaks, and discovering his cause wasn't as simple, even after extensive allergy testing. He went on an strict "elimination diet" to discover his triggers. This worked for him.
Have you tried anything like this?
I have them and have had a constant break out in my mouth for over a year. The doctor and the internet called oral lichen planus, there are pictures on the web. Mine change from canker sores to tears on my inside cheek to bumps on my tongue at the back tooth level on both side and then bumps and open sores on on my saliva glands and a rash all over my tongue, it is always broke out.
I have known sense my 20's that I cant eat anything with ascorbic acid in it, orange's tangelos grapefruits. They have always broke out my mouth. So I think and am eliminating things that I think of ascorbic acid in them and vitamin C. Been doing this for 6 months and having no luck. I think they add vit. C to everything. Sometimes I can eat and sometimes they are so bad that I wont eat. I haven't tried Orajel or Anbesol I just ordered some to see if they help.

I have been there after surgery and had to go off my meds because it interfered with healing. Mouth full of sores could not eat or drink without horrible pain and lost 40 lbs. I have litchen plantus was diagnosed by dermatologist after biopsy. They finally started me on cyclosporine and it really helps but also started me on rhemacaid IV infusion which helps a lot too. So hope you feel better.
Unfortunately it could also be linked to Bechet’s Disease. I’ve had canker sores all my life but they got really bad when I entered my 20’s. I just got diagnosed at 28 in 2024. Prednisone helps but I’m not a fan of being on meds all the time so I also use chlorhexidine gluconate mouthwash (get from a dentist or doctor) , magic mouthwash (get from a dentist or doctor) , and clove oil to help depending on how many sores and size. I hope this can help you.

I thought the same thing thing! I have Behçet’s disease and my mouth ulcers used to look exactly like those featured in the image above before I was able to get my symptoms under control. They’re called apt boys ulcers and they hurt like hell. I get them orally, vaginally, and in my nose and throat but thankfully not anymore. I take Otezla and that has basically kept me in remission for the past 8 years or so. Colchicine also helps immensely. I hope this helps and I’m sorry you’re suffering.
