I'm a grandpa!

In 2021, when I was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in my mid 50s and given only a few years to live, one of the things I had to come to terms with was that I'd never know my grandchildren.

How wrong I was.

He was born yesterday, and has my real name (not "North" 🙂) as his middle name. I held him today, and thanks to the huge recent advances in managing metastatic prostate cancer, it's no longer foolish to hope that I might even get to attend his high-school graduation some day.

Congratulations! Being a grandpa is great. I have 3 children, 9 grandchildren. Doing well after radical prostatectomy in July, getting my energy back and psa so far is .04 . Enjoy each day as we are not promised another one!

Grandchildren are a motivation for sure. I saw the oldest (now 20) graduate almost 2 years ago. I have three more to go - ages 17, 12 and 12. I'm 18 months into this journey and just 5 more radiation sessions to complete my 39.

OHHHH, Sorry for being late to this wonderful celebratory gathering !!! : )))
YEAYYYY !!!
I can only imagine your joy and pride and I am wishing you and your whole family many, many more years in complete health, love and happiness < 3.
May little “North” be sunshine of your life and bring smile to your face even in days when you feel weary : ))). If he inherited just a iota of your perseverance, patience, integrity or compassion - he already made this world much better place just by taking in his very first baby breath : ))) ! I am soooo happy for you - ENJOY !!! < 3
