Zepbound and Hair loss

Posted by luamiller @luamiller, Jan 6 8:32am

I have been on Zepbound for about a year and I am experiencing hair loss/thinning. I have been taking 5,000 Biotin, but still happening. Anyone else experience this and what has helped you?

I have been on Zepbound for exactly 1 year and started experiencing hair loss the last 5 months. My weight loss has not been rapid and it’s actually fluctuated the last 3 months since I have been determined to exercise and eat better instead of increasing my dose (2.5mg). I eat protein and take supplements. I would be curious to hear what your doctor says, I meet with my doctor next week. I love the empowerment I feel by taking the medication and the control I have over my eating and cravings, but I’m not willing to lose more hair over this so I’m considering weaning off. I’ve read online that hair growth products don’t work against GLP-1 hair loss. If anyone has any success stories, please share. I would also be curious to know if I have to quit taking the drug completely to begin hair regrowth. Or if I could reduce the dosage to every other week or monthly.

@cocobean603 I have been on zepbound for a year, as well. I have experienced hair loss over a period of time, not relating it to the zepbound. WOW! I have been at a loss trying to figure out what is going on. I will definitely talk to my doctor in February. Thank you for posting. Had no idea.

Try a hair oil called Vegamour. It is a little pricey but works amazingly!!

I started zepbound 2.5 in March 2025. Around July, I started losing hair. In December, that stopped and I now 2 months later have lots of visible new growth hairs all over. My derm said no to biotin (an expensive way to do nothing) and suggested minoxidil topical 3x/week. I did not start the minoxidil as I wanted to give it a little more time. What I did believe stopped the hair loss and started new growth was a slow down in rate of weight loss and daily protein shakes (started that around September). I have lost about 60 lbs and am stabilizing around that number. I only went to Zep 5 mg and no higher.

Same here. Trying to find resolution. Someone suggested minoxidi tropical, 3x/week. Have not tried yet, will talk to doctor my next visit.

I, too, am experiencing hair loss. Handfuls. Similar to the loss that occurred during course of treatment involving interferon. In that case, hair came back once treatment ceased. With Zepbound, I started in May 2025. It is now February 2026 and I have lost 57 pounds. Hair loss is relatively recent, in the last few months. Thanks to those who have shared their experience and advice.

It is temporary . You find that in someone who lost a lot weight on low calorie diet without GLP-1 too.
