Propanolol and cortisol
I was recently prescribed propanolol by my shrink. It has helped my inflammation in a big way. I was never a person that got sick over the years. I have never had a flu shot, never had the flu. After I got sober in 2017, so much happened in my life. I was in fight or flight all the time and I did not really know it. My father died, my partner was killing himself with alcohol, found him dead and other things happened that I did not know how to deal with. I believe that traumatic events over the years, caused me to stay in that state. I think my immune system was compromised due to the constant surges of cortisol. That is the only thing I can think of as to why the propanolol is helping the inflammation. The mind has so much to do with physical health. I am just putting this out there for anyone that might relate and also maybe discuss with a doctor.

diverdown1, God Bless You. You have been through so much and I am so sorry.
Stress definitely affects our cortisol levels....so does getting cortisone injections and taking oral steroids. I agree with you about the cortisol surges compromising your immune system.
Interesting what you said about Propanolol. I am a migraine sufferer for years. My wonderful retired
Primary Care Physician of 32 years told me that migraines are caused by inflammation. No doctor had ever told me that until he did. Fast forward to my current Neurologist who recommended Propanolol to me for migraines along with taking the triptans when needed. She even takes it for migraines. I am still pondering the Propanolol as I have so many reactions to meds and this is one more med to take, right? With that said, it would only make since in that Propanolol reduces the inflammation in the brain that causes migraines.
I am praying for you and for this to be a better year for you. Blessings & Prayers....
