distortions and bluriness but pictures show no changes from to wet AMD
I have been followed, for dry AMD for over a year with little change in vision. A few days after a stress test for heart, distortions developed big time. Yet specialist sees no difference in pictures before and after distortions and bluriness that has occured. Looks like I have symptoms of wet AMD. Why aren't pictures picking this up. I plan to begin Syfovre injections to slow degeneration. Anyone have any ideas as to what may be happening?

Apellis Pharmaceuticals – Syfovre (pegcetacoplan) is approved only for:
Geographic atrophy (GA) due to dry age-related macular degeneration. It is not a treatment for wet AMD. Please consult your retina specialist.
It is my understanding that a stress test like you experienced does not worsen AMD? Is this what you thought your specialist said---that there was a causal connection? Recent journal publications show better retina eye health with exercise. I can find many articles that emphasize that an exercise and retinal health have a positive connection. I could find no research supporting that a stress test can worsen AMD.
National Runners Study 2019:
In medical research, "Dry" AMD (the early stage where waste builds up) and "Wet" AMD (the late stage where blood vessels leak) are tracked separately. Here is how that specific study broke down:
The Findings: Among the 41,556 runners, there were 152 reported cases of AMD. When they looked at the "high-mileage" group (those running more than 4km/day), the incidence of AMD was significantly lower.
The "Wet" vs. "Dry" Factor: The researchers noted that while some runners still developed early-stage "Dry" AMD, vigorous exercise appeared to almost entirely prevent the transition to "Wet" AMD during the study.
Ask your retina specialist. It's my understanding from what I have read that exercise is good for eye health and doesn't worsen it. Appreciate your post and there are
new treatments coming down the pipeline. Stay positive and well. Do you think you may need a second opinion from another doctor maybe at a teaching hospital near you? There is a geographic list of Retina specialists online.
Are you saying you now have had BOTH a regular OCT scan- -and a different type of scan --a follow up OCT-A scan? Also, if an eye had both dry and wet AMD they would treat the Wet first.
