Osteoarthritis

Posted by sandy148 @sandy148, Dec 26, 2024

I have osteoarthritis everywhere. As long as I keep moving, I am good but if I sit in a chair anytime at all, it hurts to get up. I cannot take motrin or advil because I have asthma. Anyone had any success with any particular medication. Steroid shots won't do it.

@marietter I cant take anti inflammatories due to a risk of stomach ulcers ( even with food )

@marietter, I can't take them either orally, BUT, this does not bother me. You could ask for them to specialize the cream without the anti-inflammatory (NSAID) and see if it works for you.

Blessings & Prayers....

I had to discontinue my diclofenac (voltaren) after 8 years or so because it was raising my blood pressure dangerously high. No NSAIDS anymore. My pain is awful. I am on 650 mg acetaminophen twice a day with added Tramadol. Use heating pads. It’s rough. Hope they can create something to help us soon.

@marietter hi Marie
Are you seeing a pain specialist? If not ask your doctor to refer you. I remember seeing rheumatologists. The second one acknowledged that all they could offer was tylenol —a product I find to be useless. The second rheumatologist agreed.

@marietter If there is a Neurologist or Spine Pain/Fibro/Arthritis Specialist in your area, they can order a compounded pain cream. It helps take the edge off for me, BUT, mine does have
diclofenac in it. You could ask them to please not put that in there and to personalize it just
for you to what you can tolerate.

Praying for you. I so empathize. Blessings & Prayers....

@marietter But if you have Chronic Kidney Disease, enough can cross into your system to possibly have an effect. Therefore with CKD it's suggested to limit to occasional use.

I have bone on bone osteoarthritis in right hip, waiting for op. I use Flexiseq twice daily on hip and it works wonders. I am able to walk a couple of miles every day and do about 50 exercises stretching etc to keep me fairly fit. It does not contain any drugs as it is sequessomes that lubricate the joint. Would highly recommend to anyone. There are 2 versions, one for joint wear and tear and one for osteoarthritis.

@marietter ..I'm not holding my breath for any help. In fact, I've given up. I have the feeling that the powers to be are hoping for MAID to lower pension costs. 76,000 people so far in Canada.

@cavalryman Where do you buy your Flexiseq? Looks like it is only available overseas. Is there a US source for Flexiseq?
