Mucus in my throat and post-nasal drip after covid
Ever since I had covid in November of 2023 but I was left with a constant phlegm in the back of my throat and post nasal drip that will not go away. The feeling of having mucus in the back of my throat actually gets worse when I try to get rid of it by coughing. I no longer have the covid virus but I have this cough that has been going on since November 2023 till January 2024 this cough just won't stop but I have an appointment for the pulmonary and the ENT to find out what's going on I do have acid reflux so I don't know if that's the cause of me to still have this cough.😞😞 I'm on steroid inhalers (symbicort 160/4.5 and Doxycycline for 5 day I have tryed albuterol, allergy medication and that didn't work... Is there anyone going through this too??

It is a horrible, I have been dealing with that on its worse sections for over 1 and half years out of now where not sick and nothing helps it
Im new to this Mayo group but have been dealing with Long Covid for 4 years, manifesting by severe brain fog, dizziness (now using a cane) and depression.
My question is has anyone used nicotine patches for relief? Im so tried of fake remedies. But I have seen comments about it, so Im curios .

I tried patches and they helped, but adhesive made welts, so I switched to gum and it also helps, with some mild stomach upset. Chew 4 x a day for 10 minutes. This was from long covid clinic that since closed, as many have. Best of luck. 6 years for me in March.

@kfinch315 have not tried nicotine patch. “Speech therapy” helped me with brain fog / memory (it’s called speech therapy but focus is on memory). Covid can be a lot of things at once and depression comes with the territory. Anti depressants help with mood and that helps in general.
The Covid-19 long haul challenges are complex to say the least. Hopefully those patient survey's taken five years back will begin to bear fruit very soon. The Mucus problem that rears its ugly head unexpectedly. The Neuropathy and Kidney deceases developed during Covid-19. The cat and mouse games we deal with regarding our brain. Especially if, like myself, rely on it to make a living. Medical breakthroughs couldn't come any sooner. I try to bite my tongue knowing, doctors had "written me off" based on my "push" numbers posted on the ventilator over a three-week period and the series of blood transfusions (2-3) and kidney dialysis (2).
@oobc50 Maybe start a regimen of NAC...with your dr's advice that is.I do believe it's helped to 'rebuild' some new cells in there.I can breathe fairly deep.
What is acronym NAC? Please, can you provide source information for my review and possible consideration?
Thank you in advance.
