Dr. Doug Lucas Has anyone here paid money to work with Dr. Lucas?

Posted by trixiegirl @trixiegirl, Jun 1, 2024

I have been following his Youtube channel, did his free masterclass and have learned a great deal. It is evident that he is highly intelligent, motivated, and ambitious. Today I listened to a 2022 podcast interview with him by a health/fitness professional in the UK (Tony Wingard with whom I am not familiar). I think this was just when the optimal bone health website was getting started. The interview is quite interesting as I learned a lot about Dr. Lucas’s background which I have not managed to find anywhere else. I was surprised to know that he was a professional ballet dancer for 2 years before going on to medical school because of his fascination with the muscular/skeletal systems. He also talks about how he moved from orthopedic surgeon to functional-anti-aging medicine and the influence of his wife who is a registered dietician. After listening to this podcast I do believe his main goal is to heal and teach. I like how he analyzes studies and updates information and recommendations.

I have been following these Drs like Dr Berry, Dr Bright (who does not believe in HRT), Dr Eric Westman & more regarding the keto or carnivore diets. I was left with seizures caused by a brain injury (TBI) after a DV assault 20yrs ago. I have been trying variations of the diets, the Carnivore being the hardest which I am going to may be try again. I have been trying to contact people that did carnivore which stopped seizures, which has been a bit difficult at times. I have read that Dr Lucas is very expensive in starting his plan for osteoporosis, around $13,000 plus he sells his vitamins as well.

@nycmusic What I love about Dr. Doug Lucas are his YouTube videos that do in-depth reviews of research papers. This input has been a cornerstone of my osteoporosis journey.

He includes links to the papers, or the abstracts in cases where those published articles are behind paywalls. The video sometimes zooms in on a section of a page or chart and I have paused the video to read those in detail.

But, I always follow up by trying to research the specific paper and the general topic myself. And so should everyone about everything you hear in this arena, even if from your own doctor, unfortunately.

My own investigations have led me to different conclusions than Dr. Doug Lucas a few times that I can recall. Most of those were about diet, protein intake for example.

I also like that Dr. Doug Lucas does evolve his opinions, and explains *why* his view changed.

So, I agree with the advice from NYCmusic, and go beyond the book as more studies have come out, and Dr. Doug Lucas has incorporated newer research in his outlook videos, since the book was written.

@trixiegirl hi there time passed if you’re still interested I joined Dr Lucas’s online OsteoCollective in the middle of 2025. I am finding it to be very supportive, offering amazing resources and compilation of information. I am new to actually joining this kind of space. I am happy to share more if you respond and I see it…

@squitirogloria Hello, my advice is to take the free master class to get more of a feel. I have not specifically encountered answers to your questions. I am in a coaching class called Patient Communication Skills Lab and last week we received a “Question Bank” with 8 different bullet points including discussing options, understanding results and more. In the site There are ootles of resources and one can always get help navigating and finding things. Site ambassadors will often provide direct links when newbies get lost or others forget. Good luck!

@pierodellafrancesca Thank you so much for responding; I appreciate you!

I did take the master class, but it didn't seem to be anything other than an infomercial.

I'm going to view a few more of his videos and see what I see.

I follow Dr Doug Lucas on IG and You Tube. I like his review of clinical trials and his interviews with medical professionals in the Bone Health space. He is informative but access is only virtual. I like the idea of seeking out biomarkers other than Dxa Scans like REMS, CTX, and P1NP. I continue to gain knowledge every time I look for him on social media.
