Ablation plus Watchman to be successful???
Persistent AFIB diagnosed March 2025. Ablation plus Watchman procedure scheduled May 27. Naturally hoping for success. What has been your experience?
Since I pay $635 per 30 days for eliquis, I am looking forward to the savings. Will be off eliquis in July if all goes well.

I hope this news encourages people that ablations can be successful and that with a lot of determination we can get better
Thanks Susan for sharing. I also had a couple of difficult weeks after ablation and watchman procedure. I was able to hike to the top of Mount Lassen 4 month after procedures but slower. Hope aerobic capacity keeps getting better as time goes by. Almost at 6 months.
Well. DANG! back in AFIB 2 days ago. Doctor appointment this afternoon. This second AFIB is more disturbing as I feel something is wrong. Have a light fluttery anxious feeling - a little dizzy and weakish. First go around 7 1/2 months ago, I was not consciously aware.
@0ldbernie Aww...that sucks. You managed about seven months or so, but now your AF is back, or maybe it's flutter....to be determined. If it is flutter, it can be fixed, and it's surprisingly common for ablatees to develop flutter in the days and weeks after an apparently successful ablation. Let's hope that's all it is.
How have you determined that it's AF? What diagnostic?
My diagnostic tools were my Apple Watch and my blood pressure gauge. Confirmed with ECG at cardiologist today. Cardioversion scheduled Monday. Prescribed Ranolazine as a rhythm control also.
Do not like the feeling of the ‘This and That’ approach.

1 Reaction@0ldbernie Well, we're moving along, and it seems like the right direction. Good for you for tackling it. And I'm happy your cardiologist is responsive.
So cardioversion moved to this morning. I am back in rhythm - soothing good news.

1 ReactionYay! Let's hope it lasts. For some, a single cardioversion is all they'll ever have. For some, like me, I literally get only hours out of a cardioversion. I hope you can put this behind you permanently.
I underwent two medical procedures on November 18, 2025: a second ablation and a Watchman device implantation.
The ablation was performed by Dr. John D. Day, while the Watchman procedure was conducted by Dr. Vamsee Yaganti in Salt Lake City, Utah.
On December 29, 2025, I underwent my initial Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) to evaluate the Watchman device, with all findings indicating satisfactory results to date.
Following my physician's instructions, I discontinued flecainide yesterday and will stop taking Eliquis on February 9, 2025. I will commence a regimen of 81 mg aspirin daily until further notice or instruction. I feel great!
