@heisenberg34 The discomfort then years of pain and thousands spent on the best sneakers and shoes for 20 years of plantar fasciitis and 15 of polyneuropathy finally forced me into these big, ugly wide toe box custom ones. Thankfully. I was old enough to get them through Medicare—but they are worth every penny of full price. As a starting point, custom molded soles worked well for many years.

@dckuke What shoe are you wearing that does such a great job for your feet? Thanks.

@dckuke how did you go about doing that? I wear Altras now. They look like a duckbill. But very very comfortable on my toe and very cushioned. They are expensive. I would be thrilled to have medicare care for my feet!

It has been challenging and expensive to find a pair of shoes/sneakers that allow me to feel comfortable for any length of time. I have had some success with Orthofoot products along with Alegria and Wolky. I live in New England, and finding comfortable, warm shoes in the winter is tough. My PN is quite severe per the neurologist and emg testing. Hence, walking any distance is intolerable. I wish all of us affected by PN comfort at some point soon.

Along with polyneuropathy, I have decades of plantar fasciitis. The wide toe box and ankle support have been critical to being able to walk—even short distances. SAS were excellent except the toes.

Finally, I gave in and had custom leather and custom inserts. My podiatrist writes Rx and orthotic provider measures and makes a mold of my feet. The whole process takes about a month. They take lots of wear without losing shape

I have talked to doctors that have had the same experiences we have. Despite excellent craftsmanship, you leave who behind if you wear these

I wear stability sneakers at the gym and walking 2 miles daily.. They are called ON. There is a lot of extra cushioning that my sketchers Go Walk sneakers don’t have. They sell them on Amazon but I got mine in Fit 2 Run store in the mall. I don’t have foot pain but these feel like I am walking on clouds and they help with balance. They are not cheap but so worth it. I prefer to buy these good sneakers in the actual store rather than online because of possible fraudulent brands. The ON are Swiss made. My daughter uses the ON running sneaker.
I recommend this brand and suggest you try them for the 30 day period and try them on in the actual store. Dicks sporting goods sells them . See if you have a Fit 2 Run store in your area or just goggle ON to see where they are sold. The Swiss really know how to make things.

Cool, never heard of ON and I'm Swiss, go figure. But now I will try them. Thanks. Finally getting my foot revision surgery on both feet. Bad Dr. did my first 2 Hallux Ridgidus ops. Looking forward to a new life... Again thanks for the tip!

I wear the Hoka Arahi in wide width. I wear them to take my walk and go to the gym. I still come home with some pain (on most days) but they have so far proved to be the most stable and widest I can find. As soon ss I get home, I take them off and use an ice pack. My pain seems to be a different level every day and I have yet to discover what dictates that. I only know I cannot conquer it! I like the Hoka better than Orthofeet. Kurus are horrible.

@sensitive I found the opposite. Cold causes me great discomfort and warm helps—blood flow and relaxes muscles. Interesting works for you.
