Pooping and spot checking
I titled the topic pooping but any bathroom issues are included.
My husband has been having issues w the bathroom for awhile. He has rituals like first flushing the toilet, then adding toilet paper and flushing again - before he has done anything. Then he sits down and may poop a little but gets up and comes out and says I’m not done. He may go back several times before he is done.,
If we have a place to go it’s not so bad. He goes and we are out the door. But when he is home he may be in and out several times.
I also notice he puts his hand in to help himself and I’ll see poop on the toilet paper roll. He does wash his hands and cleans the toilet and sink and whatever.
But it’s getting weirder.
Recently both toilets overflowed because of all the toilet paper ge puts in. Plunging and dawn detergent worked but I had to tell him not to put toilet paper in until after and just for wiping.
With peeing he does ok but recently also has a couple accidents because I think he got confused about his pants. They can’t have belts or ties just elastic slip on.
We are not using depends yet.
But I now have to deal with the reality that we are dealing with apraxia - and found this article on an earlier thread.
https://makedementiayourbitch.com/dementia-poop-how-to-avoid-accidents-and-stop-smearing/
At this point he still ok when he is out or at daycare.
I’d like to know what others are dealing with, how you are handling it etc.

Hi,
My, your terrier does have a good time with Charmin, doesn't he? How cute! But it's not so cute when you have to clean up the toilet paper. By the way Northern toilet paper is just as good and soft as Charmin and much cheaper. The terrier is just being a normal puppy! Sometimes at 7 months they forget they are supposed to go outside.
However, I'm a little worried about your wife. 30 minutes is a long time going to the bathroom. Does she have a constipation problem? Maybe she should go to her doctor to see if anything is going on. Toilet problems seem to happen as we age. My husband had lung cancer. He died in 2024. He got to the point where I had to wipe his bottom for him when he had a bowel movement. He was too breathless to do it for himself. I didn't mind. I loved him very much. That is what love is all about; helping your loved one when they need it most.
Forgetting to flush is often very normal as we age. I'm 79 and there have been times when I forgot to flush. Possibly after sitting in the bathroom for 30 minutes your wife was just so glad to get out of there that she forgot to flush the toilet.
Ask God to help your wife and the terrier. After all, God made them both and he can fix them. God is always there for us. We just need to ask. I will say a prayer for all 3 of you.
I wish you the best.

We just got a bidet on our toilet. It is working very well. I spray my husbands bottom. Even though the water is quite cold he doesn't seem to mind. The difference is when I wipe his bottom, I don't have to go through several wipes of T.P. or flushable wipes. I should have gotten one of these a long time ago! Got this on amazon.
