Please Share 3 Things You Appreciate about Being Old
It's Thanksgiving, so I'm looking at the positive. Some folks don't like the word "old" but I don't mind it. You can substitute "aging" if you prefer! I'm thrilled to be 71 and looking at 72. Due to serious health concerns in my youth I never expected to make it this far. So here goes--and I hope you can join in.
My Three Positive Things
1. I know what my ethics and beliefs are, and I'm no longer worried I might betray them because of outside pressure.
2. I can tell a good story based on life experience.
3. I'm less self critical. My mom told me that if she made a mistake she'd say "you're so clumsy" to herself. When she turned 80 she changed and told herself "you're doing great!"

I've never been a lazy person but always struggled with sleep patterns fitting into a work schedule. Such freedom to have mornings of freedom from THAT!

4 Reactions@binw I love this so much. My eyesight is much more “ soft focused” than it was and it definitely makes looking in the mirror easier lol ( not that I do so much of that these days) I only wear my glasses for reading!

2 ReactionsI don’t worry so much about what other people think of me. I’m much better at seeing the humor in things and much better at knowing when to be serious about other things. I’ve made peace with my past and am learning to forgive myself and others for our mistakes.

9 ReactionsThree things I appreciate about being old:
1. I used to worry about my son’s future. Now I’m not. He finished his school and is having a job that he enjoys.
2. I can look back at all the difficult times when I was young and thank God for helping me through.
3. Being old is a legitimate excuse for taking it easy.
Thank you @mir123 for posting this topic. I enjoy reading all responses! Thank God for letting me grow old.

10 Reactions1. I move slower and see more!
2. I appreciate nature more, both sunrises and sunsets!
3. I appreciate, like, love women more especially smart, intelligent women.
4. Old jokes that are funny, really funny, not hurtful or stupid.
Although this one is funny but a little hurtful. Dr Frankenstein sends Igor to the dead market to buy a brain. Igor returns with a woman's brain. The doctor asks him why a woman's brain when the monster is definitely male. Igor says I only had five copper coins and the market wanted 5000 gold pieces for a male brain. The Doctor asks why such a difference. The woman's brain was well used and the male one was like brand new.
