When do they have online groups you can join while facing alcohol addi

Posted by bigk50 @bigk50, 2 days ago

I am looking for more online groups facing the same challenges I am. Being able to get feedback back and support group. Also to learn about triggers and craving while going through process.

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Addiction & Recovery Support Group.

Welcome to Mayo Connect.

Online groups tend to have a large number of attendees, so less personal support than may be found in in-person groups:

First, you might check out the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration for options:
https://www.samhsa.gov/find-support/health-care-or-support/support-group-or-local-program
On that page, there is a link to a document listing options:
https://www.samhsa.gov/sites/default/files/virtual-recovery-resources.pdf
Hope that helps.

Do you care to share the challenges you are facing?

Sure I am battling alcoholism and I was 2 months sober since I re lapse but I am back on it. I also have got diagnosed with pancreatis so the alcohol was leading cause plus put me at high risk for pancreatic cancer so I am so awake.

@bigk50 Have you looked into Alcoholics Anonymous? It saved my life. I am over 8 years sober having battled the disease of alcoholism since the age of 14 years old. Go to https://www.aa.org/
you will be able to find in person and Zoom meetings at all times and places. I lost my partner to this disease. He was only 55 years old. All you have to do is stay sober today. Every morning, tell yourself that all you have to do is not drink "today." Telling myself "I will never drink again," is too much and honestly none of us know the future. If I can do it, you can do it!!!!
