Anyone have Postherpetic Neuralgia from shingles on the face?

My former husband had a case of shingles before the vaccines were available. He worked outside but didn’t protect himself from the sun and had several outbreaks on his forehead. I thought Valtrex would help as he wouldn’t see a doctor. I know that Gabapentin helps with itching - I take 3000 mg a day for my Parkinson’s pain and also for the intense itch on my feet. It’s the only thing that works.

Just to give you all a positive outcome, I had shingles on the right side of my face March 2025. The first month was pretty bad, but once they figured things out it's been it's good. I'm on 200mg daily Acyclovir and no symptoms at all. My symptoms were an initial peripheral vision occurrence for lack of better words right before everything else and then what I thought was a severe ear infection or wax buildup then hives but none of that occurs now. Never been on the gabapentin everyone is saying. Wish you guys well... Praying...

I had Shingles on the left side of my face it’s the worst thing I have ever encountered and is still an on going problem .
I take Gabapentin 900mg three times a day.
I have seen a Neurologist, Dermatologist and Infectious Disease specialist they all say the same thing it’s going to take time possibly up to two years for full recovery.
My main problem is a very sore eyelid that I have had for 3months so if anyone has any cure I would be truly grateful.

I got shingles at the time of Trunp's first win. Only within the last year did the itching across the right side of my forehead stop itching.
