Aerobika How Much Pressure
Following what I have been reading here and what my therapist (who I only have seen twice in two years) I have been inhaling and blowing out as hard as I can. I started my Manometer with it today and discovered I only have to exhale lightly and I get mucus up. I would be interested in knowing what setting people use and do they find it much easier to exhale following that guideline rather than forceful huffing and puffing we are told to do. My feeling it is the holding the breath that matters now the force used.

They claim these are disposable but I will comment more when I receive them, it looks like the one I had but doesn't show the part that connects to the Areobika. Hold off until I see what they look like and I'll comment. There is another part to the one I bought connected to my Aerobika so I am hoping this has it too. If not, I guess I blew $26. They seem hard to find when I searched online.
@picartist Elaborating further. I think I may have just bought the guage, which does me little good without a connector. Monogram Medical makes the connector and I think most medical equipment people, like Vitality Medical, sell them together. I may have wasted money on two gauges, so we'll see. I do note that the one I did buy was with an Aerobika but they are usable on all three bika's I have. Now that I know how hard I should exhale air, I don't think I even need it any longer. I was exhaling extremely hard and it was not necessary.

1 Reaction@picartist I think I may have bought just the meter and they need a connector that connects them to the Aerobika. Best I can determine you have to buy one with an Aerobika, however, I am using the one I bought like that with two other Aerobikas so they are not built in and can be switched.
@picartist I would not buy these because they do not have the connector to the Aerobika, I think I wasted my money. You need to buy them with another Aerobika because the connector is included.

That is amazing you found the manometer online by itself. They look identical to the ones that come with the aerobika, but do not have the attachment to connect to the aerobika. However if you bought an aerobika with one you can use that attachment.
Sometime last year I noticed that the aerobika needs replacement every year, but the manometer needs replaced every 6 months.
I contacted Monaghan to ask about buying one separately. I was told it was not possible. I heard from several people there ( going up the ladder every time) that the manometer was developed for another use and there were many regulations etc. that prohibited them from being sold separately.
I was told that perhaps the best answer would be to package 2 with the aerobika. That is a great solution, I have not seen that done anywhere. I buy my aerobika from Allied Express.
I see now from the Cascade website that the manometer is the
“Ambu Disposable Pressure Manometer
Manometers are used for monitoring the airway pressure and are suitable for use with Ambu resuscitators or other resuscitators, hyperinflation bags, CPAP masks or circuits.”
So it makes sense now. They were designed for the above. Monaghan found a great use for them with the aerobika, For which I am very grateful.
I did not realize how hard I was blowing until I started using the manometer.
Kudos to you for finding a source to get them separately.
And remember according to the Monaghan website they should be replaced every 6 months.
Cascade will probably see a lot of business.
