Coffee and Multiple Myeloma
Does anyone have information on whether coffee has a causal relationship with multiple myeloma? I have seen mixed results. I LOVE COFFEE.

@sallik74 I was just diagnosed with SMM. From my labs, it looks like all this started 8/23 - 8/24, when my Hg took a real nosedive. It has since come back up, but it's still below normal. Coincidentally (or not), I had a cardiac ablation around that time! Be well.

2 ReactionsJumping in on this hope you don't mind. I have had SMM high risk 5 years as of this month. Prior to being diagnosed with SMM I had H-Pylori (a severe intestinal infection) for over 4 months and lost 30 pounds during that time. Prior to H-Pylori I drank about 7-8 cups of coffee per day. After the H-Pylori was cured I tried going back to multiple cups of coffee but the SMM diagnosis and treatment , Revlimid and Dexamethasone, allowed me to tolerate a small cup of coffee per day for about 3 years. Now I can consume about 12 ounces of coffee per day but that is it. During and after the H-Pylori I was also diagnosed with diverticulosis so not sure if the H-Pylori, 7+ cups of coffee per day or oncoming SMM high risk was to blame for the diverticulosis. Oncologist and gastro Doctors both said any of the 3 (SMM, coffee, H-Pylori) or any combination thereof could be the culprit.

3 ReactionsI was told to stop drinking coffee because it tends to dry out the system, and I would need to drink more water to keep the kidneys functioning.
