Brinsupri experience after 3+ months
Brinsupri may take 3–6 months to reach full effect.
Please use this thread to share first-hand experiences only if you have been on Brinsupri for 3 months or longer.
To keep this discussion useful and focused, let’s limit comments to actual outcomes, side effects, or changes you’ve observed after at least 3 months of use.
General questions, early impressions (< 3 months), speculation, or unrelated discussions please post in a separate thread.

Started Brinsupri about 15 weeks ago. Definite decrease in severity of respiratory infections, (much easier to recover from.) Daily sputum volume seems variable from day to day. I use 1/3 fewer tissues than before starting Brinsupri. Some days more than that and somedays less, and the same goes for color and thickness. It varies. It seems like I have reached many different plateaus throughout the course. Some days it's amazing how fast clearance is and others long and frustrating. Most significant change is decrease in daily cough. I used to experience multiple coughing jags per day, now that's limited to 1 or zero. Seem to have greater exercise tolerance and stamina. Sinuses feel better but I take a daily Allegra, which helps tremendously.
Overall observation: Brinsupri has reduced my cough. Progress not linear. I have experienced multiple plateaus, some at a higher level of improvement and others lower. There is still notable day-to-day variability, which I hope will stabilize over time.

9 ReactionsI started month fourth of brinsupri. I still cough throughout the day. At night may be about two hours of AC sitting with my back at about 45 degrees( just comfortably sitting and watching tv) I cough that deep mucous cough that brings some phlegm which is not greenish any more, it’s clear. It’s not much but there is something. So this is one change with brinsupri because before I did not cough that way. During the day it’s still dry.

1 ReactionAfter I read another post it’s possible that the extra pounds I gained a big appetite I have might be the side effect of brinsupri. So far I don’t complain because I am happy with this, but yes when I think about it I think about food a lot especially at night. On the other hand may be I am making up for what I lost during Mac treatment( I ended with being 98 ponds)

1 ReactionI have been on Brinsupri for 3 months. My lungs feel clearer and less gunky and I have less and clearer mucus. I also have a pretty regular low grade headache and my blood pressure that had been managed on a very low dose BP med for 30 years elevated. My PCP has adjusted my BP med and added a diuretic but my ankles continue to swell so more adjustments are needed. Swollen ankles was never anything I ever had.

2 Reactions@lilianna It is so hard to remember certain aspects of what each of us post. You answered my thought when you said your mucus went from green to clear. So you did the MAC medications, the big three, before starting the Brinsupri. I zeroed in on that because I went from green 'mucus plugs" to light yellow to near white mucus plugs along with loose yellow mucus. That is what I see in my clear solo cup that I clear up and out of me....with the clear solo cup I can see what is coming up and out.
I would imagine the infection medications helped clear the infection and helped to change the color of the mucus. As told often, I have not done the antibiotics. Watchful waiting with a low load of intercellular is what I decided.
I have only been able to gain about 7 lbs after having gone down to 94. What a difference a few pounds make in being steady on my feet....no close trip and fall spells anymore.
Glad to hear the positive aspects for you.

1 ReactionI’ve finished 14 weeks on Brinsupri. Though I’ve posted much of this elsewhere, I’ll post it here as well. My energy increased early on and continues to be good. Mild hemoptysis was frequent (every one to two months) for me and has disappeared. Pulmonary function tests improved- no CT yet. Sputum is reduced, thicker and harder to expel. It is less watery and more plug-like, but not worrisome in color.
For a bit of context, I was treated successfully for MAC in 2020-2021. Since then I’ve been on antibiotics about once a year and had just finished a round before starting brinsupri. I wonder if my success with brinsupri is related to the antibiotic.
I really haven’t had negative side effects to date. It is good to hear others’ experiences to be aware of what to watch for.

3 ReactionsThank you for starting this thread for those of us on BRINSUPRI 3+ months or more!
I started on October 1, 2025 and am into the 4th month. After just 1 week I was calling it the miracle drug. All the positive feedback I have read about on this site I have experienced as well. HOWEVER, at the 5 week mark I became aware of a couple of little red dots on my legs as well as dry patches on my skin. Since then I’ve developed extremely dry peeling skin as well as a horrible skin rash across my trunk. The red dots turn into painful itchy sores leaving me feeling as if my skin is crawling… I have read skin issues can be a side effect of BRINSUPRI, but nowhere can I find how long this may last (forever?), how to treat this condition (yes, I have tried everything including Benadryl, oatmeal baths, prescription lotions!). I am on the 25mg dosage and wonder if I should cut it in half, or temporarily stop BRINSUPRI altogether… Has anyone else experienced these issues? If so, how have you managed them?
@sharonednaramsey Hi. I've not yet been put on Brinsupri but since a series of heart events in late August I've had very low blood pressure so an elevation would be a plus for me. I'm glad you're getting some good results otherwise.
@cayenne Hi. If your sputum is thicker and harder to expel, have you tried Mucinex?
