Tymlos 6 clicks
I’m 59 years old. Started on forteo in August. I was on it for 6 weeks but the body pain was horrible. I took 2 weeks off and then started Tymlos. Started at 2 clicks and have been on 6 clicks for several months now. I do well with it. When I went up past 6, the pain was unbearable. I’m not due for a bone density scan until January 30, but I was wondering if anyone had an increase just doing 6 clicks?

Thank you for all the replies. I’m hoping to work up to eight clicks soon!
Best of luck. It made me exhausted for the first month and I slept too much. Now I’m fine.

I use a red light therapy belt on my back and it does seem to help with discomfort. Not sure about osteoporosis
Hi, Thanks to this group I learned about ramping up the doses. I started at 2 clicks in October and I’m up to 5. With each increase I experienced dizziness, heart palpitations, and fatigue.
Eventually these side effects became less pronounced except for the fatigue.
I tried 6 clicks 2 weeks ago but experienced headaches, muscle aches, and nausea for the next 2 days. I went back to 5 and seem to be handling that dose better.
My endocrinologist was unaware that the dosage could be anything other than 80 and insists that I get to that amount.
Has anyone had success in increasing their bone density with just 50?
@kittygrrrl I took the full dosage of Tymlos for 12 months. I had heart palpitations and my pulse was 180 within 15 minutes after giving myself the injection I kept calling the doctor to complain. I was scared to death of having a heart attack and she recommended I still take it because it was natural side effect. I stuck with it for one year had the bone density test after 12 months and my osteoporosis was slightly worse. I am now on Prolia going on 6 months.

As I understand the mechanism of Tymlos, it stimulates the thyroid in a bolus action. The thyroid then does its thing in promoting bone growth. If that is correct, the amount needed by each person to start this reaction may be different. Some may have a more sensitive thyroid. Hopefully @gently will correct me.

About the time I quit Tymlos (about a month into it) some of the early side effects had moderated or stopped. But the absolute exhaustion I had in the second half of each day, along with leg pains at a a 6-7 level in the evenings had established themselves, and that was the end for me. Hard sell to get me back on that at any dose. At 77 years old, I would be looking to get sure results quickly, and to take lower doses for awhile might possibly delay that. I am starting with a new endo later this month, and will hear her out, but that experience was very upsetting, and I am not usually a scaredy cat. Don't wish to feel lousy for two years..if I am around that long..and maybe get little out of it. Some people do just fine, but each person is different.
@normahorn I believe it activates the parathyroid.
I have thyroid disease
