Anyone have success with red light therapy for radiation effects?

Posted by sandy8043 @sandy8043, Jun 26, 2025

I've read about it and considering trying it. Please post if you've used it for your H and N cancer healing and or radiation fibrosis.
Thank you,
Sandy

There are no claims that it does either. Please raise a wary eye before using in proven therapies to cure cancer!

I recently had a procedure at Mayo called fat grafting that has greatly reduced my neck fibrosis

Agreed. But I know there are patients on this forum who've used it and reported positive results. So I wondered if I could get those folks to tell me their experience before I try it.
Thanks.

I do red light, and I think it works. I'll try anything at this point, I have a handheld device that I use on my face to get nerves moving,

@trainwife Its been about 6 months since you reported your use of red light for fibrosis. How's it going? Good results??

Using an at-home red light device every day has definitely made a positive difference. Massage helps as well.

@sandy8043
I'm new to the group i received red light therap 3 days a week while I was taking radiation treatments
In multiple places on the exterior of my face and inside my mouth i received 25 radiation treatments or 5
weeks spoke with nurses i know on a personal level at the cancer center
From their experience it does help the only thing I can say is I didn't blister. Inside my mouth at all during treatment
Slight blistering at the bottom edge of my neck after treatment was over but this was also done at the cancer center as port of my treatment

Does it work for fried salivary glands from radioactive iodine?

@tkj68 Doubtful but worth a try. Nothing really can bring back the dead. Red light therapy in specific wavelengths seems to quicken the healing process.
I thought my salivary glands were fried as well, only to find out they were either blocked or rerouted after radiation. An additional surgery for something else oral opened up at least one salivary gland, which made life far more pleasant. I guess for you I do not have a good answer.
