This and That and Talk - My Transplant
As our Mayo Connect community grows, I am constantly meeting organ transplant members on a wide variety of forums with a wide range of issues that are not directly transplant specific. However, because we are all transplant recipients, we have a special connection: a unique journey and best of all - a new life! We don't always need help or advice. Many times we just want to chat with someone like us! That is my purpose in starting This and That and Talk.
Drop in and say 'Hi'. You are welcome anytime.
What do you want t to talk about? What words can you offer to someone who is on the journey? Do you have any questions for another recipient?

@rosemarya - Looks like you found a great place on Connect for your strengths!
@lcamino Knowing my son he will just do that, he is very thoughtful and he is so good to me that it sometimes brings tears to my eyes. He even flew home from CA one time when I was in the hospital for an HE episode. Here we are at a wedding 8 years ago, I love this picture.

@contentandwell Great picture!

@contentandwell, How is your knee recovery coming? Been thinking about you. Did you dance?
I'm getting over a head cold/sinus/congestion sort of thing that has become a real nuisance! I hope you are doin g better than that!
Rosemary
All summer long we have enjoyed some friendly conversation over a glass of iced tea. Now I suggest we change to a cup of hot chocolate of hot cider, and maybe a homemade cookie. How about an extra log on the fire for those late night chats when you have something on your mind, or just can't sleep!
We all have some sort of transplant related connection. And we have learned from each other and shared with each other, nd supported. And now I want to introduce all of you to @glinda, who has been actively sharing in the Heart Transplant Discussion Group.
Also, I want to remind you that I am always on the lookout for a new discussion topic to post.

Hi @contentandwell
I've been thinking about you as well. I hope all is going well in your recovery.

For my heart transplant it was a 6 months to a year evaluation for transplant and i had to go every month for the first 6 months then every other month for the evaluation but i don't know if thats the normal for everyone who needs a transplant at mayo in MN
@rosemarya My knee recovery is coming along. Today I have not taken any narcotics, and I only took one yesterday. I think I will need one tonight though. My knee still hurts of course, I think it will for a long time but it is a tolerable hurt which is all you can ask for.
The musical group who played at the wedding never did a slow song! I commented to my daughter and she said she had provided them with a list that included slow music but maybe because there were so many on the dance floor enjoying the current music they just stuck with it. She really did not notice she was so busy flitting around, but I think I should have said something to her then so she could speak to the musical group. As a result I think all of the people of my generation and some even a few years younger, left early.
We did get to really enjoy our son and his girlfriend though. I like her and we did some fun things together. They of course did some things without us, which was fine. We can’t keep up with a couple of 30 somethings.
Even more disappointing to me was that the photographer did not get any full family, posed shots. That was supposed to be done before the reception actually started but there was a delay in setting things up so it did not happen. My husband and I both feel the photographer should have pulled us aside at some point for that but she did not. We are both disappointed. We paid for the photographer and to not even get a nice family picture was a real disappointment. We did get a somewhat candid shot of the six of us, which is pretty informal but it’s better than nothing. If I could figure out where it is on my IPad I would include it! It’s on my phone but I thought it would be here via ICloud by now.
I am having a runny nose and sneezing a lot now myself. I hate it when I get colds, they seem to stick around forever. It was frigidly cold here today too. I expect to get back to my club and the pool within the next two days but the thought of the pool makes me shiver! I had communications with one of the others in the class today and she said it wasn’t too bad.

@rosemarya I am really into Rishi Tumeric Ginger Chai for my relaxing evening beverage. It’s not actually made with tea, so no caffeine and it’s so good. They have it at Whole Foods. I love it.

@contentandwell JK, I hope that you continue to make progress. I try to keep in mind that even 'slow' progress is good:-)
I am recovered from my cold. I think it seemed extra long because we doing the preparations to have our kids in for our family Christmas here at our house. The afternoon came and went too quickly! Now my husband and I are on a more relaxed pace, and all the shopping and decorating is already finished. We will go to Christmas Eve service at his church, and Christmas Morning at mine.
Merry Christmas.
