@tdassler ,
Thanks! I finally got a response from my gastroenterologist's office. I was told I should start out with Motegrity by itself and then add the Senna back if I need to. Was told not to take Colace with Motegrity which, I assume, would mean the 50 mg docusate sodium. Glad you get good results most of the time. Best Wishes!

Hello, so sorry to hear you aren't doing better. Would you mind sharing what surgery you are considering? The reason I ask is that my gastroenterologist keeps hinting that I should consider a redundant sigmoid colon re-section. My sigmoid colon is very long and "tortuous." But I don't really know if that would substantially improve my problem, which is complicated by slow intestinal transit, IBS-C, chronic gastritis, hiatal hernia, etc. I have read a bit about a colostomy but I think that is not a sure cure for constipation. It seems to be considered a treatment of last resort, due to its drastic nature.
Wishing you better days.

2 ReactionsI have been on Motegrity just over 3 weeks. I am also continuing my Senna (3 tablets twice daily) and my Colace (2 tablets twice daily). For the first two weeks, I was having a dependable, pretty large, bowel movement every morning. Things were moving so quickly that I cut back a bit on my Senna and Colace. Now it seems like I am back to where I was before the Motegrity. I have read other reviewers who said the same thing. 2 weeks great, then nothing. I have already purchased my first refill ($100 copay) so I guess I will stay on it for another 4.5 weeks until it is gone. If it doesn't start working again, then I guess I'll give up on it. Anybody else have this experience?
I tried Motegrity and found it working well initially. With time I got uncomfortable cramping with it and I cut the tablet in half and eventually stopped it. However, it got things moving.
I continued with Senna, Prunelax and now on as needed Dulcolac.

3 ReactionsI have been on 1 mg. Motegrity for over a year. After trying every other medications and natural products, this is the only thing that works. I sometimes only take 1/2 if I’ve been going every day. I have a tortuous colon and IBS.

2 ReactionsI’ve been on Motegrity 2 mg daily for 5 months now for generalized motility disorder(reflux,gastroparesis.chronic constipation),it worked well for 2 months until it didn’t,I supplemented with Miralax daily then I was going again,if I have a hard week and unable to go I supplement with Senna,honestly I don’t know if the Motegrity is working well or the Miralax but my GI doctor says it helps my gastroparesis(slow digestion) so I continue

3 Reactions@mark1952 what mg are you taking?
@lasirvent
2 mg once daily.
When I first used 2 mg. Motegrity (mornings) it stopped working after about a week. When I stopped for a week, it started again but stopped after the week again. That had me constipated for a week between using it, which was unsustainable. Now my doctor has me taking it two days on and one day off. This has actually been working for the past month. The day I don't take it often is the day I have the best emptying out of my system. I also take CALM magnesium supplement the night before. It still doesn't have me going every day, but every two or three days is a huge improvement for me. Adding Miralax or Senna didn't help at all.
