I was really feeling down yesterday, so appreciative to have found this group. I live in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area and our Post Concussion Syndrome resource only offers 8 weeks of group therapy. Not enough. It’s such a long and winding road and to be able to talk to others who understand each other and can offer advice and a shoulder is invaluable. Thank you so much!

3 ReactionsHello, I have a head injury to the back of my head from a ski accident. This happened four days ago. I had a CT scan and everything looked ok. I felt ok for a couple days but today woke up dizzy and not feeling so good. I called off work. I have read that a concussion can have delayed effects. Trusting Jesus to take care of me.

1 Reaction@joe1965 - I'd like to extend my welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect.
I had a concussion about 12 years ago with delayed effect. I fell on a winter walk in a neighborhood with family on ice lightly covered by snow. I'm pretty positive my head hit before about other part of my body. It hurt, and I lay on my mom's couch for a bit. Mr family then went home and went to bed, and I hoped for the best.
However, I woke up about 2-3 in the morning feeling kind of like what you described - just not right in the head at all somehow. I told my husband I needed to go to the ER.
By my symptom description alone, the ER doctor diagnosed me with a concussion, though they may have gone on to do a head CT. It took me a month till I could tolerate TV, very much computer screen time, loud noises, bright lights, etc. I went to the grocery store and found I could not match my list to the things on the shelves, which scared me.
How are you doing now? Are you up for contacting your doctor's office to see if you could be seen promptly if your symptoms are still with you at all in the morning?
@lisalucier
Hello, nice to hear from you. Two weeks later I am feeling better, I feel a bit dizzy at times, nausea in the first half of the day but not too bad. My neck is very stiff so I try to move it through out the day. Yes, comprehension is affected at times so I try not to read or social media for long periods. I feel the Lord has helped me and is healing, I'm more mellow and wiser now with risk taking...
Joe
@joe1965 Concussions can be tricky. If you did not have a follow up with your doctor a week after the CT scan, you might want to consider it. If things don't settle down it's good for a doc to walk the path with you. Best wishes to you!

3 ReactionsHello everyone
I am a 60 year old female. I was fit before my accident and cycling to a new job that I started the day before. I was hit by a car driven by an uninsured driver and rendered unconscious on impact. My injuries were a left SDH and an injury to the cerebellum with an open head wound plus all the usual cycle v car type injuries. I was wearing high vis clothing, helmet and the conditions were good on a cycle route. I’m 15 weeks post accident with five of those weeks in hospital. I’m struggling with memory, balance and thyroid issues. I live in Jersey which is a very small place with not much in the way of support as most brain injuries here are stroke related. I’ve lost my job, my transport and I missing being outdoors and the benefits that brings.
First off welcome to the group here at Mayo clinic connect, sorry that this is the way to meet, and that you had a TBI incident, my prayers go out to you and sending one now , actually a long prayer for you============================= Sent! i know that things happen for a reason, i believe in angels, actually mine is Richard. I also believe in miracles and ghosts. with that out of the way we both have similar issues, Balance, memory and thyroid. my injury was a brain tumor that dropped me in my tracks a couple times. my angel Richard tried to tell me a couple of times but you know men in general- hard headed and stubborn. so if you have questions you have come to the right site. i went through some tests yesterday. 6 month ones. my daughter will get up with the doctor Monday to find out what's next some of the tests didn't turn out as i expected. hope you have a blessed day. need anything just ask.
