Anyone else have severe constipation?

Posted by klk464 @klk464, Feb 28, 2018

I have had severe constipation for a long time. I drink lots of water and have had almost every test possible done and tried many prescription medications. These medications work for a little bit then stop. I currently take 3 docusate in morning and at night I will take 2 senna/docusate. I still dont have a daily BM. So i get bloated crampy and back pain from this.

I was told I could go to the Mayo Clinic as they may have ideas for me because they are out of options for me here.

Anyone else suffer from this?

I'm not familiar with bidets at all; do you mind saying which brand waterhose it is you're using on your toilet? Thanks.

Jaloma olive oil. I had constipation from adhesions and was taking miralax daily. I switched months ago to a teaspoon of this a day and have only had to use miralax a couple times since then. I only use miralax if I haven't gone for 3 days as that's when my doc says it gets dangerous for me due to the adhesions.

@shaleenv - here's some information that may be useful about olive oil in general and constipation:

What I'm seeing about jaloma olive oil in particular is that some of it is edible and some is not, so it's important to check the label. As always, asking your doctor about using any product such as this is wise.

Thank you for the info. I spoke to my mayo nutritionist/dietician about it before I started using it. I know that there are some that are meant for consumption and some that are not. I've also started using olive oil in my food such as when I cook my eggs or putting some in my malt o meal. All's I know is it works for me.

@shaleenv How much does it help you? Sometimes I forget to use the things that are right in front of us! I love olive oil.

I was taking miralax a couple times a week. Now in the past I'd say 6 months I've had to use miralax a few times. I just passed my 1 year mark since I was last in the hospital.

Anyone here hear about eating kiwi fruit for digestive issues ?

Yes! It helps! Clinically studied and shown to have motility positive effects similar to some supplements/meds!

@nycmusic Yes, but that you should also eat that fuzzy skin! That seems yucky! (Not medical terminology)

@h8bigbiz its not exactly a bidet. Its a simple water hose gadget ( about $40) that fits onto toilet tank, but this does mean you are inserting small amounts of water into you colon. That's why you must check with Dr. I was a little unnerved by this to start with but its so simple to use and my relief was so enormous, the straining would have me in pain for many hours....and my partner 's Dr told him last week he has one himself!!!
My partner knows more than I...i'll respond better when he gets back. At least its a small investment to see if it helps. When I have to go to hospital I literally freak out cuz no hose, for me it saves soooo much pain. I have 2...one is better than the other...get back to you shortly re which brand is better.
PS I just googled it...you are correct it is called a bidet.
