Prolia Side Effect: Edema
Hi,
I have been receiving Prolia injections for two years. This summer, I got edema. I went to my doctor and had many tests, which proved nothing wrong with my blood work and heart.
I had edema in my lower legs and feet. Now that the weather is cooler, it is better, but I have pain in 3 of my toes on each foot.
I walk daily and do not eat a lot of salt; I wonder if anyone else has had edema as a symptom of Prolia.
I just changed my doctor, so starting from the beginning. I did see on the internet that Prolia can cause edema. When I told her I thought this was a symptom from Prolia, she said never has she heard that in 30 years.
She told me to find evidence that this is true, so I am just putting it out there. We all know our bodies.

I have been taking Prolia for 10 years. Shortly after last shop developed swollen painful ankles. One leg has terrible pain. All usual tests minimal natural involvement for age.
Edema is literally listed in the manufacturer's list of side effects. See page 11. You are right!

Saw many drs due to severe 10 pain in ankles involving foot, toes and up to femor. No answer. Took another 6 mo shot BINGO!!!Prolia shot. Extremely bad pain now in both feet and left leg. Nausea and hair loss. Cannot walk sleep etc. Never should have gone past 19 th shot.
I have Sarcoidosis for 35 years should have NEVER got the Prolia shot. My legs, knees and ankles are so pain full to walk on. I developed a bursa and Bakers cyst on knees. The inflammation has been since I got the shot 9 months ago. My doctor said it doesn’t leave in 6 months, there’s something called shelf life. So if you have 25% left it will decrease 1/2 until gone ? I can’t walk without a walker and in constant pain.

I had Prolia for 2 years. I also got Edema in my lower legs and feet. My doctor said it was not a side effect. I said it was, etc., so at the next visit I put together information on edema as a side effect.
Then she put me on Floxmax infusion. I had two years and just had a bone density test, and I am losing bone density. I told her I am done, she said just one more infusion, I said no. My Edema did go away after stopping Prolia.
So
I had two Baker's cysts on each knee due to motor vehicle accidents. I heard they don't do it anymore, but who knows. It helped me a lot to have them removed. I still get small ones, but I go to acupuncture regularly. It has helped with knee pain and cysts.
So sorry for your pain. I also use Young Living oils for pain. I am allergic to any pain pill and most drugs. I do alternative therapies, which are not covered by my insurance, nor are the oils.
