Martial arts shoulder lock pushed too far?

Posted by Khelves @khelves, Dec 18, 2025

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but here it is anyway:
I do mixed martial arts, and am a 16 year old female. Last week on the 9th I was working with someone new to shoulder locks. There is a black belt close by every time I'm working with someone new who is making sure, they aren't going too fast and stop when I tap, but somehow every time I work with someone who hasn't done it, they push it too far. At the end of the week, I'm always feeling it. Like it is sore. It goes away before the next week, so I never said anything. But last week before my shoulder recovered, I had belt testing, and someone went too fast. They didn't go far enough for me to tap out, so I don't know if that could still make it worse. Either way, my shoulder is still hurting, and I don't know if i just need to go easy on it and be careful, or if it is actually something that justifies going to my doctor about it. This month is crazy, and I don't want to try to add anything else to the month unless necessary.

Me again:) figured I'd say that there are plans that if it hasn't stopped by Sunday to get it checked out. Just wondering if it could be bad, and if anyone has tips for going easy on it until then?
