My wife still has terrible shakes 5 months post Liver Transplant.

I've done at lot of research and our Transplant Team is trying to find something that will reduce the shakes for my wife. Although they have made some adjustments in her immunosuppresent drugs, the shakes are keeping her from improving her physical condition in day to day activities. I assume others have dealt with this, and wondering what if any improvement you had from anything, and how long into recovery did they start to end? 3 months, 6 months, or a year?

Good morning from Canada
I believe that is quite normal. I experience shakes for the first year after my transplant and I still have them occasionally as they are a side effect of tacrolimus as well. It will get better but you need to be patient and know and understand that it takes a long time for your body to a recover from major surgery and be adjust to a new liver and c adjust to medications. Congratulations on your transplant. Merry Christmas and happy New Year!.🇨🇦🍁💪

I experienced the same symptoms for the first 6-12 months of my liver transplant recovery - shakes, unsteady walking, memory difficulties, etc, but found that staying super hydrated (even forced), walking and minor dumbbell lifting all brought me to a reasonable level of tolerance. Now, nearly 2 years into recovery, most of those symptoms are either alleviated or gone. Occasionally, I’ll experience tremors when trying to perform fine motor tasks but learned to persist. I imagine each day, week, month and year will yield improvement. Good luck.

She is at 11 months now, and the shakes are better, as they put her on Propanol to help. Our continued issue now is getting her breathing back to normal eventually. We are working with Pulmonology Rehab now, and making some progress, however slow. Thank you so much for the feedback, all. We got this.
