Meningioma just diagnosed
Hello everyone, and thank goodness for this group!
Can a meningioma cause insomnia? Mine was discovered via MRI after a three-day bout of insomnia. I literally fell asleep on feet and face-planted in the wall. May have torn a rotator cuff in the fall, but that's secondary. Recent symptoms that may or may not be associated with my rumor:
--struggle w/balance (feel both down stairs AND up stairs last week
--insomnia and resultant exaustion
--difficullty gettin' off the floor
--forgetfulness
--seeming loss of some physical strength
Thank you!

@jdouglassgregory, how are you doing? Have you had a discussion with your neurosurgeon about treatment options?
I see the neurosurgeon for the first time Dec the 10th
Iam a little sared. I have pain in my right eye that comes and goes. It can go for a week or more before it happens. Convince my self it is not coming again but there it is. MY meningioma is 2.1x2.3x2.3 cm they say that's not to big but I'm anxious to find out what they can do. Forgot to tell you I'm 78 years old and have ITP low plattlet count . Please keep me in your prayers and I will do the same.

4 Reactions@doyel - you are very wise to see a neurosurgeon immediately! I was very frightened when I was first diagnosed, but we decided to watch and wait. Neurosurgeon does not believe mine is malignant.
I’ll certainly say a prayer for you. Please keep us posted!
Sending hope and blessings. Dolly

3 ReactionsI’ve had insomnia for years. I was just diagnosed with meningioma 2 weeks ago due to a slip on my floor and slammed my cheek. Went to urgent care for CT scan and found 1.8cm meningioma in inferior left lobe with edema. Started steroids and headaches seem to be gone after 2 days. See my first neurosurgeon Wednesday to see what the next step is. My internist seems to think they will want to treat it due to the edema.

4 Reactions@jackie2k : I always appreciate success stories with the watch-and-wait approach. Six years and no growth is encouraging for us who are following that protocol.

1 Reaction@doyel: I had a 2.7 cm. meningioma 1/16th of an inch from my optic nerve. I wonder if your eye pain could be the meningioma is pressing, in some way, on your optic nerve, or another cranial nerve that intersects with your eye. Glad to hear you will get a lot of information when you see the neurosurgeon in 3 days.
@mkoch what did they do for yours
@jackie2k
Thanks for letting me know. Encouraging!
At 79, I assume I’ll be dead in a few years anyway! 😊
