Thanks: Just want to say thank you

Thanksgiving
All of us have various diseases or different variations of the same disease and/or different reactions or complications from a vast array of potential treatments or caring for others that do. But we all have at least one thing in common: we are here and we are fighting to stay alive, get better, and have a longer useful life. And for that we can all be thankful. Whatever your situation, your politics, or your religion, be thankful for what we do have. Happy Thanksgiving.

I am Thankful that my husband is with me this Thanksgiving after a really bad patch with his myeloma.
I am thankful to the mentors and moderators on connect, that sent thoughts and prayers during that bad patch.
I am Thankful to Mayo Clinic Connect for giving us all a place to get information, and support from each other.

@loribmt I get confused on who is asking whom. But for me I no longer recall how I found mayoconnect. I have been to Mayo FL twice and along with local specialist am following their treatment plan, I get a lot of messages from Mayo on pubs and other info. One of those must have mentioned connect

Hi @dickmm, I can see where you got a little confused. I wrote the reply to @jose10, but mentioned your name, which automatically tags you as well. Your new discussion about Thanks, was so positive and impactful I just wanted you to see how much others are appreciating your sentiments.
@jose10 is a newer member from earlier this year who hadn’t written before. Your discussion brought them into the forum for the first time. For me, that shows the power of words and the value of encouragement. Connect is a special community where everyone can feel included. It’s a safe place to come for advice, to learn more about a diagnoses from others who have the condition, to vent, to share, to get support…and to feel hope.
So thank you for starting the discussion and pointing out the commonalities we all share; That we should be grateful we’re still alive and thankful for what we have.

@gails53 I hear you. I’m grateful every single day for having been a patient with Mayo Clinic-Rochester. Without the outstanding, collaborative care I received 6+ years ago, I’d be represented by an empty chair at the Thanksgiving table for the past 6 years. My medical team quite literally saved my life.
At which Mayo Campus were you seen?

@loribmt
I went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester as well. When I arrived there in April 2025 I was in a wheelchair on supplemental O2. They diagnosed in a week what my doctors at Vanderbilt couldn’t figure out in 7 months. With my daily AWC and medications, I am back to hiking! So grateful!

It’s been a blessing to connect daily with others who share similar concerns.
I was diagnosed with myelofibrosis in June of 2024, taking hydrea successfully since then.
Since then Waldenstroms lymphoma has been added to my mix and weekly infusions of Rituxin.
Anyone else with this double diagnosis? If so, any advice for me?
Thanks. I am blessed and know “all will be well.”
