Possible good news on availablity of LIFTMOR/ONERO program in U S
I have posted about this program before - who knows what thread it went to - but as many know, it is hard to find a PT in the U S who is trained to do it. Given the heavy weights patients use this training seems essential.
I live in south central PA, and the closest PT to me is Baltimore (and hour and a half each way) . There are two in NJ and on in Manhasset (Long Island) but that's just too far.
I asked a PT I once went to get involved but never heard back.
Now, however, it looks like the woman who started the program in Australia is actively trying to get more of our PTs to offer it. In the link I am about to post, they recommend patients contact their PTs -- exactly what I tried with no success - to get the training. Apparently it's only a 6 hour online course.
Here is the link , which will also tell you about the program if you aren't familiar
actually two links - i can't find the one I saw last night but here is one from a year before, just about the program
Remember the ONERO online program is not this - she even says that. It's just good for balance. This weight lifting program you must do under strict supervision with a PT trained in the process
OKAY - here is the newer link Please watch

Researchers (from University of Leipzig, Germany and Shandong University, China) identified GPR133/ADGRD1 as a receptor that plays a central role in bone formation and maintenance.
Has anyone in the thread read or heard about this study ?
My specialist is trying to strong arm me into going on Jubbonte after a year on Evenity and I am not convinced this is the right next step.
In a 58 year old male , very active in the gym with weights and cardio and a very good high calcium diet.
I would like to know why my bone density is breaking down not just go on the next available drug , be that is hard to transition off of .

@bonebuddiesforlife Has your specialist investigated any hormonal issues? Bone density issues in men can be related to a decline in testosterone.
My dad had osteoporosis that went undiagnosed as it was in a time before DEXA scans. He had many fractures over the years, starting in his 50s. He died at age 75 and was very stooped and frail. He never smoked or drank and was lean and physically fit for that time. He liked to run but didn't lift weights.
I (64F) also have osteopenia/osteoporosis that started in my early 50s despite a healthy lifestyle (good diet, lifting weights, cardio, etc.). I wonder if it's mostly due to genetics because of my dad. I am also currently on Evenity and my doctor is also recommending Prolia (Jubbonti) when I finish it.
I have fractured once already and am eager not to go down the same path as my dad so I am considering it. I would only do a year on it then go to Reclast.
It would be nice not to have to take any medications but I don't think that's viable for me as doing all the right things did not prevent bone loss and fracture.
@oopsiedaisy I’m sorry to hear that.
We at least have the option to have this medication on hand.
I really don’t want to take the Jubbonte as it’s really hard to come off of.
My specialist won’t entertain listening to anything new .
She only wants to prescribe medication.
She won’t acknowledge my DEXA or REMS testing.
I have decided to move on.
I will be getting a referral to a clinic in Vancouver that tests to see why the bone breakdown is happening so that proper treatment can be provided.
Best of luck to you and let me know what your experience will be with Prolia .

What drug are you taking now in order not to lose evenity gains?
Thanks so much for sharing this. I've been trying to find the program in Boston, without success, and had considered sharing info with a PT/trainer here.
There is a great interview with Belinda Beck by Peter Attia on The Drive podcast:

1 Reaction@gravity3 No drugs at the moment . My dr wanted me to go on prolia and I’m opposed as I would like more studies done to see why I’m losing bone density.
There are clinics and hospitals here in Canada that offer this service tailer made for my specific issue.
I don’t want to got on Jubbonte, it’s a hard one to stop without serious side effects.

1 Reaction@sigggie Thank you for sharing.
Most doctors only do what they learned from schooling and not many are interested in and medical improvements in regards to osteoporosis.
We have to do our own research .
@oopsiedaisy
The specialist had not investigated hormonal concerns .
She only wants me to take medication.
You have to be your own doctor unfortunately.
