Help finding socks that my feet can tolerate

Posted by bowm0052 @bowm0052, Sep 25 10:05pm

Hi! I need help finding socks for my feet. I have pain all over my body and it's very sensitive to change. The socks need to cushioned (because of severe foot pain), have arch support, and not be too tight. If my socks are too tight, they set off the nerve pain in my body.
I've tried several brands that are very reputable, but they are just a little too snug and don't feel comfortable. I've also tried diabetic or loose binding socks, but those tend to be too loose for my feet which also set off the nerves. I'm looking for recommendations. I'm pretty immobile, so going to a store to try different socks isn't possible for me.
Thanks everybody!

Hi there! I think I might try the shoes sometimes and just see how they feel. It's definitely worth a shot since they can be returned if they don't work. Thank you again for the tip! 😄

I finally found some good socks - they’re not tight, have room in the toes and they don’t bind at all. Go to LeBon Shoppe website and look for their “Cloud” socks. Hope this helps everyone who has this problem!

I have the exact same problem, though it mostly involves my lower outer shin. I can't stand any pressure there.
I have tried using the nosocks footbed covers. They are ok but not in the winter when its cold. Maybe the Nosocks covers would help you if you're in a warmer climate.

@ericamonique

I have low volume feet. In your opinion, would these Cloud socks slip down inside the shoe if you have thin feet and no instep?
Thank you.

Bomba socks while expensive could be the answer.

@1995victoria

Bombas have too tight of elastic around the leg. Too bad because they are comfy otherwise.

Me too! I'm not sure if we can name brands on this support group website, but I've been wearing the same brand of wool slippers / shoes for years with the cork bottoms. And yes, I typically spend about $130 to $150 on these shoes. I'm actually looking to get a second pair, so I am for sure going to try the ones you suggested from amazon. Thank you so much for your help! It really means a lot 😁

can you share what brand you have purchased in the past?

@skyhollow Short socks, with pull on tabs in the back, help me a great deal! They are almost like slipper socks. Some brands are in the Athletic shoes and socks department, of stores!

@skyhollow - To be honest, I only wear these to bed because they're rather thick (perfect for keeping my feet warm). Since they're thick, you should be able to wear them without slippage. I also have low volume feet with no instep, so I understand your concern. Give them a try and if they don't work in your shoes, you can wear them to bed or just for lounging.

one other thought...have you tried OS1st socks? The only ones I can wear are the wicked comfort style crew.
One pair the tops were too tight and others have been fine.
I've also stretched the tops of socks by putting the top of the sock over a jar or something similar.
