Phlegm in my throat and post nasal drip after Covid

Posted by danny2022 @danny2022, Dec 18, 2022

Ever since I had covid in January of 2022 I recovered from the virus but I was left with a constant phlegm in the back of my throat and post nasal drip that will not go away. The feeling of having mucus in the back of my throat actually gets worse when I try to get rid of it by coughing. I have been given steroid inhalers, albuterol, allergy medication, but none of these work. The mucus gets worse especially after I eat. I've never felt like this before and it all started after covid. Can anybody relate to what I am going through?

I have that! Except I just had covid 1 1/2 months ago. I saw a recipe on utube for green tea, thyme, ginger, turmeric, lemon peel and peppermint. Pour boiling water over and steep for 10 minutes then drizzle with manuka honey. Drink 10 ounces per day, hot or cold. I am going to try it because I can;t afford the inhalers.

@palka9898 for me it was a primary care physician that was helping with long covid patients. If you look, more and more people physicians are suggesting LDN, but I am hesitant after reading a lot of people’s experiences on it - not to mention cost and the fact that it seems to only work while you are on it, instead of resetting and then being able to come off it at some point.

@oly78 I found a compounding pharmacy that creates my liquid LDN 4.5 mg/ml for about $80 for three months supply (so about $26 a month). They ship it to me for not additional cost.

You do have to stay on it until researchers can find something else that will help reset our immune systems. LDN decreased my pain from the inflammation substantially and gives me more energy. I can now walk about 8/10 of a mile every day, wash my hair without losing the rest of the day, and fatigue does not hit me until 1-2 pm.

I have had Covid four times AND have had four Covid shots. I have had huge amounts of mucus since my first episode. I take Mucinex, Fexofedidine and a nasal spray which help a little. I often wake up with mucus in my throat and have to sit up and clear it out which doesn't allow for a restful night. My PC doesn't have any other ideas either.

I have prescription for it at the Fairview Compounding Pharmacy in Shoreview, MN. Any compounding pharmacy can make it for you. I get it as a liquid as you start at a low dose and slowly work up to 4.5 mg per day. It is a pretty tasteless liquid. I did have very trippy dreams for about two weeks (not nightmares) and they did go away. That was the only side effect for me. I get some extra energy from it when my endorphins release but some people feel this as anxiety so you will have to see what your body does.

I am fortunate that I continually was able to spit out phlegm. I watched Dr Mandell on u-tube the other day about phlegm, his suggestion was 2 teaspoons of thyme in boiling water and steep gor 10 minutes and drink or take 1/4 teaspoon of thyme put it in your mouth and chew…..I did this for about 3 minutes and then swallowed. Within 10 minutes my phlegm cleared up. I gave been on two strong bouts pf prednisone 50 mg for 3 days and decreased every 3 days….that was useless. I couldn’t breath! Once I took the thyme it has helped so much. I know it sounds crazy and the thought of the taste of thyme is horrible it ended up not bring that bad. Good Luck!

yes, that's when it happens to me too, always after i eat or drink anything, i irrigate my sinuses with a navage, which is like a netti pot thing. if i don't do this then the phlegm will build in my sinuses...it really gets thick if it builds.. at the end of this month it will be 3 years for me from covid...i have a lot of other symptoms but this one is the one i hate most because it is always there.....hang in there..

@beebee000 go to utube and watch motivationaldoc and watch the episode on drink it or chew it. I chewed the 1.4 teaspoons of thyme for aboutv3 minutes and within 10 minutes my phlegm cleared and I was really having a bad time with the phkegm. It sounds crazy but it really worked for me! Good luck

@kako35 call me crazy utube motivationaldoc “drink it or chew it”. Advised chewing 1/4 tsp of thyme. I did gor about 3 minutes and 10 minutes later hardly any phlegm! I was desperate. It isn’t that bad either. Just sounds horrible.
